Re: ÍSLAND - Iceland 2011

This part, of course:

If you win, what language will you perform the song in at the Eurovision Song Contest?

We haven’t decided yet, we haven’t won the competition, so let’s go one step at a time. The song was actually written in English and I personally think it’s better in English, but it’s up to the writers. If I do win, I’d love to perform it in English at the end of the final, but right now, it’s just a dream.

Well, it's boring cos everyone speaks it, DUH!

This song is much better than "Is It True", but I don't think it has the winning potential in Dusseldorf. I don't know how will the other songs sound like, but this is not a winning material. However it could do very well, probably even top 5. I didn't like "Is It True", but I do like "Nott". I hope it will stay in Icelandic though, but I guess they will change it if she wins the NF.

For me it's all about Eldgos!

Johanna is nice but way too generic and she already said the song will be in English, if winning, which means it'll be even more generic and predictable.. boooring! Zzz

The juries will be all over themselves for this Disney ballad though haha

Out of those 4 finalists I like "Astin min eina" the most. It's a great ballad, in my opinion much better than Nott :)

While its a nice gesture, I hope the Icelandic wouldn't be swept up with emotion to vote for this song just because the original singer passed away. Of course if the song is great they should go for it.

^Of course, there's definitely gonna be an emotional component to that performance because of the whole situation, and some would vote because of that. I think that emotionality will be hard to remove since the whole deal is still pretty fresh in people's minds. I still hope for an unbiased voting though

Yeah, people should totally focus on song and not on sad things that happened to singer.

It's between Yohanna and Sigurjón Brink's song. A two horse race... Who's going to win the Icelandic ticket to Dusseldorf?

If she ends up winning the NF, I'm hoping that she pulls a "Dima Bilan"; Dima placed 2nd 2 years before he won, and Yohanna placed second 2 years ago, maybe this year she will win ESC and bring ESC to Reykjavik :) I think I'm day dreaming too much

Imo, the 3rd semi is the weakest though Brink could qualify.
Between Yohanna and Erna I would choose Yohanna.

That "Eldgos" song is odd on so many different levels. It has no structure and as it progresses, it confuses you. :| I believe that Brink's song will win. The country is small, everybody knew him. He will definitely get sympathy votes. I do hope that the song is nice.

^ I got weirded out myself when I first heard it, especially the part when the woman kinda screams, idk what it's called musically, but that part. I still think that people would vote for it because of sheer sympathy, but I do hope that the best song wins still. If Brink's song ends up winning, I'm not too sure if he'll end up getting sympathy votes from the European public, maybe but a slimmer chance.

Of course not! 80% of the viewers won't have an idea that this was originally Brink's song and that he died!
