When it comes to summer vacations I am clueless this year. Last year I went to Turkey, this year I still struggle with my destination point, if the luck is not on my side, I will definitely spend quality time at my home region of Chelyabinsk on the lakes or with my friends. I planned a trip to Moscow, but it turned out to be a little bit overpriced so I might visit my friend in Saint Petersburg, but I dont want to spend my summer in the city, I want to spend it somewhere closer to the nature
Saint Petersburg has always been on my bucket list! I feel it’s a safer city for me to travel to as an LGBT individual. I love anything old and historic. Once things are normal again, I’ll definitely look into it more closely!

Russia is lgbt friendly in general, you just need to know the right places. Of course you will not be welcomed somewhere in the village, but In major cities everything is fine. Some boys wear make up, express themselves as they want by painting nails and doing other stuff which is considered to be “gayish” here. I personally live in Ekaterinburg and we have like 3 gay clubs known to everybody. New generation is super tolerant and supportive but of course there are a lot of things you need to take into account as the law dictates other rules of existence. And speaking about saint p, definitely worth visiting! Diverse, beautiful and it’s the capital of best bars!

I hate central European winters and last year, I decided to run away for part of the winter to some warmer places. I spent 1 month in Sri Lanka in March and then 2 months in Vietnam and Indonesia in November and December and it was the best decision I could have done. Luckily I also have a job which allows me to work fully remotely. The prices are extremely low in these countries for EU standards, so you can live like a king there and the most expensive thing is the flight - which you can mitigate if you book early. This year I will most probably do the same thing for couple of months at the end of the year - just haven't decided which tropical country will be the lucky one this time :) I am thinking about Sri Lanka again and then travelling north to India.
For the summer, I will stay in Czechia, as I don't see the point of going on holiday during the one part of the year when the weather is nice and you can do anything here.

So in the end I am going to Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia again, leaving in less than 2 weeks and will be gone for 2 months. Really looking forward to it as the winter and freezing temperatures started here in Czechia :D

You should mark satire, if you are using it.
Well, it is still friendly. A bunch of people can´t determine the opinion of the whole nation. It is what it is, sadly. but on the streets, among my friends and colleagues and in the lgbt clubs I saw another reality.

This „bunch of people“ as you say include the president which as an approval rate of over 80% among Russians.
It rather seems to me that you mistake your personal bubble as „Russia in general“ (as you said).
On the other hand I recently saw an interview with an russian lgbt-activist and she painted a completely different picture of the situation.

over 80% approval is what pro-governmental polls draw. If I were asked on the street, I would either decline responding or would accept suggested answer. That´s how dictatorship works. And it is weird that my own bubble goes beyond cities and it is strange that we consider public places as my own bubble. If my own bubble was that huge, that it would cover 3 gay clubs in my city, I would be more than happy to have such a great social life.
Its always better to portray Russia as a completely homophobic state than accept that LGBTQ+ people live here maybe not in the same conditions as in other countries, but the society and peers accept them. This at least says a lot about young generation.

well then - everything is perfect, there's no problem, the anti-gay laws don't exist and therefore are not executed, Putin is hated by everyone, in one word: paradise on earth that viciously is falsely pictured in the west. My apologies.

I honestly don´t understand these sentences now. You replied to me by saying that my words about Russia being lgbtq+ friendly are a joke, I answered you by saying that I see another reality. You, in response, throw Putin and other stuff into my face for what? I know about barbaric laws, I am telling you about the perception of those who are not in charge. I just honestly do not understand the purpose of this conversation. I am LGBTQ+ friendly, my friends are, people whom I barely know are, I know gay people, I see them on the streets and etc. What's the problem then? What do you want from me?

Look, if you wish to know what the Russian people think of various issues that are happening in Russia and around the world, then do a YouTube search for "1420" and whatever topic interests you. The creator of 1420 boldly interviews people who live in Russia. In each video, you will find that Russia is not the monolithic society that you think it is.

Back to the topic of holidays.

As usual, I will be staying home for the holidays, and I have no plans to go away this winter.

you're quite funny, considering I didn't make a statement like "Russia is lgbt friendly in general" which started the whole issue. Who's presenting Russia as "monolithic" here? Surely not me. Trust me, I do have various reliable sources of information (not just one - as 1420) upon which I form my opinion. Me criticizing ironizing one single post of one single user is not enough for you to make a judgment on my beliefs or world views.

Anyways. I'm done here.
