Well, someone singing well or bad is not really an opinion, but a fact

Ok... someone who knows more than me on music can prove me wrong then!

But i do not feel like i have to own a PhD in music in order to state an opinion!

I don't feel like watching the video again and trying to find out which I like less: the Polish entry or this one

Too bad that Greece can't send something 'stylish' or so if even just for once.

Nothing subjective is a fact. Even if you can hit correct pitches and notes it doesn't necessarily make you a 'good' singer in practice.

i would say it is a fact xshrug

u can always tell if someone is trained in singing (and more often, if someone isn't xrofl2), there are objective elements upon which u can make that judgement.
however, will u like the singers voice or singing style is a completely different story (will u say that is a good singer, in short). that part is completely subjective :D

You don't :p

I just say singing is an ability. You sing well or sing bad. That's a fact. Like something is red, black or what. Nobody can argue about the colour of something.

After this, we can discuss the way of singing or the specific voice. Here is the place for opinions since this is something subjective.

The fact is Kostas' sang good tonight. Obviously, he didn't show an outstanding voice (he doesn't have it anyway), but he was correct even if he had probably the most difficult song to sing. He did the notes he had to do.
His voice.... well, I find it sweet and nice, something not suitable for this song. But that's just me :)

Loved Martakis's song, but I guess greece is never going to send that kind of thing to this contest anymore.

Rise Up is nice, the beginning is extremely promising, but then it gets more disappointing as it gets way too repetitive. It's a bit of rap and then rise up rise up rise up, a bit of rap again and then rise up to exhaustion. His vocals are weak, not as weak as josephine's but weak nerverteheless and that's a minus as well.

It's still a happy and very catchy entry that will get everybody dancing.

Which is precisely my point. Correct notes can be recorded and objectified but whether I think someone is a good singer or not has nothing to do with their technical ability. It's an artform, it's not meant to please everybody.

Another reason I'm happy with this song representing Greece is that this type of music is for the past couple of years very popular in Greece by local artists, and there were many well produced songs that have nothing to jealous from the international hits of this kind. I thought that many songs I was listening to the radio from local artists were actually songs from the UK or USA and then I was finding out it was from Greek artists/producers. I think it's time for Greece to show to the rest of Europe that it can be successful in making this kind of songs. Just like Romania did some years ago and established some artists in the whole Europe.

And IMO this song is probably the most fresh and modern song of the year so far, along with Hungary.

Martakis sounds to me like he's singing with full mouth. He pronounces "s" as "thshhhhh". No matter if he hits the correct notes, he still sounds bad

This also! xclap

This is a problem that can be fixed through intensive courses, but, after 8 years of professional singing, he hasn't done anything about it :(

Sorry, no more excuses for me! There are so many talented singers in Greece who get wasted, that makes me furious!
