Tbh I find this hilarious. When the original 8 were revealed, I saw so many people joke "Forever strong is my #9, whatever gets added as the 9th song has got to be better". Now "Scars" is actually rated worse then "Forever Strong" on eurivisionworld and in the scoreboard app! Expectation, eh, outperformed! :ROFLMAO:

If Floryan wins our NF, the other countries should disqualify us out of pity lmao
But actually in the poll on eurovisionworld Max is still the last.

I think Marie will battle for last jury place though... just like Ikke or Voxxclub, international juries don't seem to be here for Schlager.

Jury top 3: Ryk, Max, Bodine/Isaak
Televote top 3: Max, Marie, Galant/Ryk(depending on whether the bubble really stands united behind Ryk, I'm not sure of that myself, he's not getting my vote for example)

something like that I guess
u could be totally right here with the jury vote, but i expect EVERYTHING when it comes to germany tbh :D i've been surprised here too many times

As German fans, we somehow perceive German Schlager as some sort of "inferior" genre and Schlager songs of "poor quality" but honestly, are they really worse than what KEiiNO and "My A.I." represented in  this year?
Even "My A.I." - a dated bubblegum song with a Schlager-ish chorus accompanied by an average vocal performance - finished Top 5 in the international jury voting.
Of course, "Damdigga" was more engaging and entertaining than "Naiv" but "objectively speaking" (if it's even possible), is "Damdigga" worthy to be #1 in the jury voting? - It was a bland, generic pop entry.
Juries are people as well and often they vote for generic, bland English pop songs as well - Thus, I don't think it's safe to say that Marie Reim will finish last in their voting - unlike some entries in our NF, it got a "catchy" hook at least.

Marie could build up Momentum during the PreParty-Phase if she won here.

Honestly I expect either Marie or Max to win. If so, I hope it will be Marie, then we had our Schlager and nobody cries for another Schlager in the upcoming years. 😀

I also wouldn't go that far, of course she can finish 6th, 7th or 8th too - Galant is weird, and Floryan's vocals are quite bad. But I see no path for her towards the top of the jury ranking, and without it she won't win.

@ESC94 You know what the worst part yesterday was? First I watched IWZE, later on Sanremo. It felt like I am in a complete different world. Like I was SAVED after watching three useless songs.

Definitely agreed that Schlager often gets talked down immediatly by many germans - several of my friends went "ew, Schlager" the second they heard "Naiv". They even like it less then "Forever strong", which is 1000% incomprehensible to me. At least "Naiv" has a personality. And I don't think Schlager would be an immediate no for International juries. It's not a jury-bait-genre, but other factors can make up for that.
It's similar with KEiiNO IMO: the jury points likely came from their performance being top notch, and Alexandras vocals especially. From what I heard, Marie is not as good a singer as Alexandra by quite a bit, and "Naiv" isn't playing vocal gymnastics the way Alexandras big note did. So far, I haven't seen her pull incredible dance performances off either, which seems to get jury points too. That's why personally I assume Marie will be lower with the juries. I suspect Max, Ryk, Bodine and Isaak to beat her at least because they are/seem to be great singers. Leona potentially too. If Marie comes out way better then I expect for now - secure vocals, slick and energetic performance with good choreo - I wouldn't be surprised to see her higher with the juries.

For me, I just think something like "Naiv" needs a certain playfulness and that usually only comes with being very secure on stage. Then it can be fun. I don't expect Marie to be able to deliver that (yet - it's easy to forget, but she's still young too). If she proves me wrong tho, I won't complain :)

Yes.

I don't think age is any excuse, there are 10 year olds that can sing. So a 23 year old should be able to hold a note while walking around the stage, when that's her fulltime job. And it's kinda pathetic, since schlager is specifically made for weak vocalists. You are meant to sing along to schlagersongs when you are drunk. I would get it, if "Naiv" was like really a demanding song vocally but it isn't.

Oh I agree about the singing - although Marie said she's aware she needs work and is working daily with a vocal Coach. So we'll see if that pays off.
What I meant in regards to age was only about the performance. She doesn't look like she can sell "Naiv" live to me as of now, but she could simply need more experience for that. Just my impression from Interviews, so ofc I could be super wrong, but she sounded to me like she wasn't really all that sure of her own abilities. She's a nepo Baby, and they have many advantages, but some disadvantages too. A certain pressure and often not feeling like you're your own person. That's the impression I had with her. She still needs to find her own footing and learn to trust in herself, not just others. (But again, I don't rrally know her, just my impression from interviews).

I like "Naiv" the most but yeah, I also think that she won't perform very well next week but dunno, after hearing Floryan who basically won a talent show, I'm positive that she won't be last.

I really believe that Max is about to win, tbh.
He will definitely be Top 3 in both votings (jury + televoting) despite having the worst song in the line-up :D

The only kind of schlager song I would ever embrace as the german entry would be one like this:

I really can't stand schlager songs like "Naiv" that take themselves so serious. Like girl, there's nothing sexy or romantic about that genre. So I really hope we won't have to sit through that the rest of the season and have that represent us...

But Max winning would be just as bad, but then we really deserve the 0 points.

I unironically love this :ROFLMAO: and I'd be fully on Board with sending this! The staging possibilities would be endless! Flopping at ESC and educating the Kids all ot once :ROFLMAO:

(Tho with the right staging this might do well with the televote I guess :ROFLMAO:)

I honestly believe that Marie doesn't take her own song serious.
Schlager - as most pop songs - just exists for fun/entertainment purposes.
If you want to listen to "serious music", I think that we could scrap half of ESC songs, tbh (or even more).

Max is definitely going to win, imo.

Let's assume Ryk will be Top 3 in both votings (which could happen but I can't see him winning the televoting, tbh).

Jury:
#1 Ryk
#2 Isaak (?) Max (?)

Televoting:
#1 Marie / Max ?
#2 Max / Marie ?
#3 Isaak /Ryk ?

The juries need to place Max lower than #3, imo
