It’s not easy being a German Eurovision fan because this problem has so many layers to it. Not only do we have a completely incompetent broadcaster in charge but also a general German audience that manages to pick out the blandest songs devoid of any substance year after year. Only to then make fun of them for completely bombing in the contest itself. Nothing will change even with a different broadcaster. Why even participate if you are not willing to give it your all? It’s so frustrating. There needs to be a 180 degree change on every level but that’s not gonna happen because, let’s face it, nobody in Germany gives a fuck about Eurovision outside of this one evening per year.

We need an internal selection with a complete new team.

I have to be honest, I expected a BIT more after the first rehearsal but somehow I really don’t want to believe he‘s just standing still there. I mean, where‘s his powerful voice? His powerful hand gestures? He‘s moving a lot in his videos, not only the MV but also other live performances.

Please, don’t mess it up, please! I will just ignore the 2nd rehearsal and believe he does save the best for last and he will let it all out in the final to surprise people.

Please, don’t let one of my favourite songs this year die before it even started. Give Isaak at least a chance!
After I saw the photos I was like: Okay, this could work out. And after the clip: xgaah Many people felt that way and it was a huge letdown. I will wait for the whole performance, but I sort of lost the last glimmer of hope. We need a fresh start next year, but this can't be with NDR and Dietmann.

I saw, well heard, an interview with Isaak where he said that Dietmann came with a lot of ideas on the first day and he said no, no, no to all of them. Then on the next day he said yes to some and they were working together for 4-5, until they got what we see today. :cautious:

That is the problem about Isaak - he seems a bit stubborn tbh. Okay, we don't know if all the suggestions by Dietmann were good ones, but the way it is now is a big no for sure.

Not sure I would pin too much blame here on Isaak - given how weak I find the average Dietmann staging, I can absolutely imagine all of these ideas being bad 😅

Other than that, I think the main problem is still that AOTR isn't that easy to stage in the first place. But juries & german public voted for it, so we gotta live with that.

Trueeee! I like the concept of the staging, but it doesn't match the song. You'd expect a heavy (rock) ballad or something if you looked at the snippet without sound.

Although I like the staging in general I don’t know why it had to be that much fire and reddish colour. I like the dark colours better because it’s a bout a dark chapter in your life. And also things flying around him and he‘s rotating, giving him space to move in different direction, moving his hands and arms around him, protecting him from the „trash“ twirling around him, that was perfect actually (although a bit difficult to reproduce on stage but they could have used an LED background).

I’ve noticed quite a bit of chatter here about Germany probably performing second in the final. I doubt that’s going to happen. After Isaak's dress rehearsal this afternoon, there was a pretty long mini-break to clear the stage of their props. Plus, Sweden is opening the final and they also need time to deal with their props. My guess is that Germany will perform closer to the first break, maybe around 8th.

Well from what I've seen and heard from last nights jury show the crowd was surprisingly not luck warm at all. Lots of clapping along and big applause in the end. I am happy that he at least gets to enjoy his moments on stage.
