Das Deutsche Finale 2024 is all over now. The winner is Isaak – "Always on the Run". Interestingly Isaak scored 12 points from the international juries (after conversion) and 12 points from the German public, making a combined total of 24 points.

So much for Ryk being so strongly tipped to win tonight. Based on tonight's live performances, I thought Ryk was best, and would have won.

Congratulations to Isaak for winning tonight. Although his entry wasn't the song I wanted to win, he did well to win in a competitive year. That means Isaak will now represent Germany with the song "Always on the Run" in the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö in May. Good luck to Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. As a Big Five member, Germany is guaranteed a place in the Grand Final, and doesn't have to worry about qualifying from one of the semi-finals.

Comiserations to the other eight artists who took part tonight, they too did well getting to the final.

is it fair to say that Ryk was a bubble phenomena? The televote for him was astonishingly low.

100%, but that was always obvious. He finished dead last in 2018 too and the people I was watching it were like meh. But The televote came through for him, I would have exactly predicted 3rd place with the 60-70k bubble votes. It's the juries that threw the curveball...

Nevertheless good luck to Isaak. He is a great singer and a cool guy. I give solid 5 points.

If the jury didn't even like Ryk today he wouldn't have done well in May either. So Isaak might be the better choice. Who knows. But I'm upset too.
I hope so. But honestly I doubt that he will receive Jury Votes in May (he must be among the first 10) . And as for televotes, I doubt that as well. But I was wrong many times - I never thought that LOTL would end up last place. Well. it will be funny seeing us dropping in the odds tomorrow.

:3: good voice and it's somehow uplifting anf catchy but I hate this "OneRepublic on a budget" quality - especially the second part of the chorus is kinda lazily composed/written.
The song needs a revamp.

But overall, I'm "happy" I don't have to listen to Max's song or Ryk again.

I think he'll definetely receive some jury points. But there will be a big zero with the televote

The main problem here are still the juries.

Juries are not supposed to vote the same as the televote, that's why they are there.
I can kind of see why Isaak would win the televote, it has a broader appeal, it's upbeat and easily digestible.

But winnin the jury vote? Nope. Their role, especially in the national finals, should be to determine which song will the the best choice for Eurovision. And they failed miserably.

Tbh I think it's funny we're behind Finland in the MyESC app. As someone who thinks "No rules" is over-hated - I'm glad we got it out of the bottom 3 there xcookie

What if they hypothetically took all of the money spent on this final and gave it to Alvaro Soler to make him the representative, instead of just having him as a random jury spokesperson?

James Newman did both... I can see it happen. That said, it was a turning point for UK so maybe our own James Newman leads to the same thing. Schlager channel MDR in charge next year, national final with 10 Marie Reims.

Juries have been failing miserably since 2009.
They don't vote for music quality, on criteria.

They are random (pop) artists, musicians voting for their favourite songs. That's it.

Wasn't the MDR thing debunked weeks ago, where is this coming from again? Did I miss something?
