Still don't get the odds (UK >>> Germany)

...they also have Sweden on rank 5. xrofl So don't worry, there have always been entries that were on the opposite side of the scoreboard at the real final, compared to their ranking in the betting odds.

I live how even the people who expected a good result from Germany and Jamie-Lee this year are unsure about it. You voted for her, now earn what you seed. Pretty sure Gregorian would've had one of the most breath-taking stages this year... *sigh*
At leasr her song is modern and fresh instead of Gregorian's.

Thomas Schreiber said some interesting things in a documentary on eurovision.de:

- Today's goal was to test Jamie-Lee's stage presence which was good
- They decided to use the satellite only a few minutes before the rehearsal so the camera was not the best
- They want to fill the stage with more life
- Therefore they will use a hologram projection as ghost which didn't work today
- They had also no bottom stage lightining which will be added

So I guess the surprise is the ghost hologram.
I hope that it will look very good. This gimmick could save us at least a few points.
Jamie could play with the hologram as ghost in the first part of the song leading into a way to the satellite at the end.
That would be very cool. :p

Overall I'm quite happy with the staging so far.

Omg! I said before she was even announced as a participant of our NF on eurovision.de that they should use ghost holograms (like in the beginning of Don't Stop Believing)! #myidea
Very happy to hear that they'll actually make it :)

What does he mean with using the satellite (Is it one of the cameras)? I don't understand it

Phew, press! What do they know about the ESC ... xsnooty

OK, we can of course continue to say: anyone who doesn't like our entry, isn't capable of recognizing its true quality.
Today this would be applied especially to the press people in Stockholm (11 points? that is low even if I see it pessimistically) and to the wiwibloggs guys: In their daily summary yesterday evening (with William, Padraig and Josh, not Deban) they repeated their criticism from before (the Germany part starts at about 14:50 if you want to watch that).

Personally, I feel a little uncomfortable with simply disregarding this growing number of negative estimations about our song. On the other hand, my own expectations were generally quite low from the very beginning, and I still think that a rank around 20 would be a progress compared to last year's disaster. And zero points are nearly impossible anyway, because of the new voting system.
So is the glass half full ("yay, we're improving again") or half empty ("top 10 keeps being way out of sight")?

Some friendly words at the end: I like Jamie-Lee and think she does a good job representing Germany, considering her young age and the big media hype she has to deal with at the moment.
This video was posted on the German ESC-channel yesterday evening:
It contains some footage from Jamie-Lee's arrival, some interview snippets in German and a little part of the rehearsal performance (that we haven't seen in the other rehearsal clips yesterday).
A few seconds before the end of the video, her companion ("Bürger Lars Dietrich") asks her about her feelings about the first rehearsal, and she answered (at about 2:40) "es war wie ein inneres Blumenpflücken" (she compares her experience to the "picking of flowers"), that was soo sweet and I had a big grin on my face...

I'm starting to get really annoyed. I think all this negativy comes from the fact that we finished last with nul points last year and now everyone is thinking that we sent, yet again, another disaster. It's sad, especially for Jamie. She is such a young artist with an incredible voice and the presentation of the song couldn't be better for me.

So who cares, like always, I will support our entry no matter what. I will hope, until the last country has given its points, that Jamie-Lee gets the result she deserves, which would mean at least a Top15-result. If not, I don't care, because I love her as an artist and her song. I would only be sorry for her, cause you've seen what happened to Ann Sophie after last years result.

So: Go Jamie, Go Team Ghost xlove

Gordon_Shumway, don't tell me you took my post seriously.

Well, I do not know you well enough to say for sure that it was only irony. And I think there are many people who don't give a damn about press reviews of the ESC songs. So I wrote my comment on that, but that was not only a response to what you posted before.

I predict that Germany is gonna be last with the jury in the finale this year and maybe 3rd last with the public. :? Unfortunatly.

Her vocals are flawless xheat

If this finishes anywhere near the bottom five, I don't know what we could do different the next time. It's perfectly staged, her vocals are on point and she's so sweet. Compared to other things I've seen until now, this is one of the best overall packages. Deserves a good placing. But hey, what do I know?

Vocally she seems fine, but the song just feels... I dunno, odd? It struggles to stand out in any way. The staging is unusual and does not make a lot of sense to me (may just be me in fairness!) but it's not grabbing me at all. I cannot see this doing well. But hey, I could be completely wrong! :p
