Interesting question. On the one hand, "Unser Star für ..." was really lame this year. I felt very uncomfortable with the live results and also with the jury, who seemed to push Roman and gave very complicated appraisals on really lame performances. Also the viewing figures were bad. And I think Germany should be flexible enough to also bring bands, or already known artists.

But on the other hand, "Unser Star für.." is the only show which really "produces" stars unlike the German Idol, which claims to deliver superstars, but they fail badly....

I think the show needs some reform but it should stay.

Indeed the show was quite lame. About 3 hours for 10 songs is just too much and the constant praise of the jury was annoying, too. We should rather focus on the songs than on the singer/artist while giving the audience only a choice between 3 mediocre songs. Some unknown bands, singer/songwriters and different music styles (R'n'B, Rap, Dance ...) would definitely make the show more interesting to watch as you get to know new music. On the other hand I do hope that an improved version of the format goes on next year in collaboration with Pro7, otherwise we get "artists" like "Oscar sings, Alex swings" ...

Ornella was a real artist with an established professional career, although she lacks media coverage in Germany. Katja was a pro songwriter, I don't know about her career. All in all, last years' successes say the selection format is good, but they should allow duos and bands to apply, too. And I doubt known artists would be willing to compete with amateurs.

You're right, they were real artists, but I found them to be kind of boring :? In addition to more diversity we need these bands/artists to perform their own songs which they could also present at the grand-final of the ESC, not some random songs of some famous musician from overseas. There are so many unknown talented musicians here in Germany, I still don't get why we don't invite them to "Unser Star für ..." next year and let them perform their own songs. They deserve some attention and wouldn't lose anything if they failed at the ESC in contrast to famous artists whose career would definitely suffer after a failure.

For example these guys are totally unknown in Germany right now but they make fantastic music. I bet that they could also make it into the Top 5 of next year's grand-final and gain a lot of attention. We'll see :p

Wouldn't it be a great idea to bring the winner of Bundesvision to Eurovision? :)

That would be great @rajo, but don't know if they have such brilliant ideas :D!

I do hope they will not cut the partnership with Prosieben, otherwise we'll send again that crap as the years before, urgghh! Since Lena Eurovision got popular again for younger people and so I think maybe some "new artists" will participate. Before we have to search for good artists, because no one 'good' wanted to participate.

Wow, I do know BenjRose... they are freaking awesome and the singer has a voice like Kings of Leon... real, great musicians (why they have no record deal BTW?!?!?!)
... and Benjamin is EYECANDY  works good -->Roman!

I don't think it would be wise to use the Bundesvision Song Contest for the selection of the German representative, at least in its current form. I quite like the idea of choosing the artist(s) through several rounds as you get to know them and their musical style which isn't done in the BSC. In addition there is a rule that every song has to be at least written in 50% German which would exclude bands like BenjRose. Pro7 would have to completely revamp this Contest which is doing just fine as it is at the moment. Therefore I would rather change "Unser Star für" than the BSC.

BenjRose is really awesome. Benji sounds just like the German Lenny Kravitz and their music could directly come from America or the UK. I hope that they soon get a record deal and will release an album. I would soooo freak out  And yeah, he IS eyecandy like Roman, but an improved version with a better voice, better music and less boring. They would definitely be popular all over Germany if they participated next year in the Contest. Let's pray for them xbow

BTW: Ständertime is funny, but it's not good music and Europe wouldn't understand this joke entry due to the language in the first place :?

I still say it is time for someone that also represents our music scene here in Germany. You will not find an artist or song that everyone likes but I am quite fed up with unknowns performing imported Nordic/American songs in English. BSC as selection method sounds perfect, sure, but I do not deny that many, especially the more famous, artists might not take part in there any longer then.
Idol formats became obsolete though and really, we need to get rid off them. At least in terms of ESC. :D Ratings were disastrous and there was little (almost no) public interest in Roman or the song. I also do not think that European viewers, contrary to us, were so fond of it (anywhere near the Top10, but we shall see this later). They might bring success at times but they do not show Europe and Asia what is going on in Germany. In this respect, NDR is by far the worst Big5 boradcaster. Others at least try.

I really liked this song and it completely deserved top 10. BUT coming after Pastora's awesome performance and before Malta's weirdly catchy 'feet choreography' didn't help him at all

I didn`t thought he could reach such a good place. He`s great. Awesome guy with a great voice, but I think the song is just ok and nothing more. But love him as a musican and a a great person.

I have the same opinion like you. He is so cute and a very good singer, but the song wasn´t the best. It was also a big surprise for me, that he got 8th at the end.

WOW, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, DANKE SCHÖN to the German crowds!!

It can only mean that the German televoters have voted the Dutch entry to the second place (10 points in televoting), behind Sweden, to lift it from 6 Jury points to 8 points Overall.

German jury gave 6 points to Dutch entry
Televoters gave 10 points
Overall score: 8 points

No Problem ;). But you gave us only 2 points, then it's maybe okay for you to let us win on 13rd June

@ Mozz

You are wrong. We gave you seven points. That is still pretty high though. ;)

I did not know either. And what has it to do with the votes?

Compared to Turkey it has a lot to do with it
But you're right, Serbia had a good song, but I didn't think it would get that much calls, thought it would be more a 'jury'-song
