Re: GEORGIA 2016 - Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitas
I've only heard "Gay Swimmer" and as far as the alternative music of associated and potential Eurovision artists go, i'd say it's actually pretty darn alright. Not Sasha Bognibov "Wounded Swan" levels of indie awesomeness, but good. I want to hear more.
Two things that worry me though:
1. what they are looking for. "electronic beats, synths and/or samples, and club orientation of post-disco dance music". O... k? Unsure really what to make of that because I quite like what i'm hearing on the "Gay Swimmer" track. That description of what they are looking for just gives me a scary, nightmarish image in my mind of some current commercial rock bands I really can't stand with a burning passion.
2. The fact they are looking for someone else to write a song for them. They are a fully capable band by the looks of things. Why can't they write their own?
Just listening to their "The Lava" EP on Spotify as I type this message, and i'm still quite liking what i'm hearing. This >>> the chart friendly Pop Rock that we usually see at the contest. Having said that though, i'm not quite bowled over yet. I just think this is a fairly promising internal pick. I'm going to keep listening to them, and see if I can fall in love.
