Also, according to this article, a jury will select 5 songs from the submitted entries and they'll held a NF. The best song will be chosen thanks to the votes of the international jury and the televoting.

Re: GEORGIA 2016

Hmm... after Montenegro, Cyprus, and now this, I'm not the biggest fan of how 2016's internal selections are shaping up. Going by the previous songs I've seen from each band, that's already a lot of blandly meandering alt-rock, and none of them really do anything for me. Hopefully they'll serve up something a little different for their ESC attempt?

"We want a melodic song structure of alternative and indie rock with electronic beats, synths and/or samples, and club orientation of post-disco dance music"

Re: GEORGIA 2016 - Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitas

I've only heard "Gay Swimmer" and as far as the alternative music of associated and potential Eurovision artists go, i'd say it's actually pretty darn alright. Not Sasha Bognibov "Wounded Swan" levels of indie awesomeness, but good. I want to hear more.

Two things that worry me though:

1. what they are looking for. "electronic beats, synths and/or samples, and club orientation of post-disco dance music". O... k? Unsure really what to make of that because I quite like what i'm hearing on the "Gay Swimmer" track. That description of what they are looking for just gives me a scary, nightmarish image in my mind of some current commercial rock bands I really can't stand with a burning passion.

2. The fact they are looking for someone else to write a song for them. They are a fully capable band by the looks of things. Why can't they write their own?

Just listening to their "The Lava" EP on Spotify as I type this message, and i'm still quite liking what i'm hearing. This >>> the chart friendly Pop Rock that we usually see at the contest. Having said that though, i'm not quite bowled over yet. I just think this is a fairly promising internal pick. I'm going to keep listening to them, and see if I can fall in love.

My thoughts on this choice. (And I only know "Gay swimmer" so far)
Funny name, that will attract attention.
They do need it cause just listening to that song does not keep my interest level high.
It's a pleasant song to listen to, but there is no wow-effect. I know, that will not be the entry, so let's hope for something better.
As for the "alternative"-side of it: Georgia did not well with its last attempt to be "alternative" (whatever that means)

Interesting choice, I'm yet to properly form an opinion on them... the 'Gay Swimmer' song was played to me in the FR last night and that was... interesting... that's the only word I have :D

I look forward to seeing what they bring to ESC.

Can't say I'm bowled over by "Gay Swimmer", but an interesting choice bringing a style of music we don't often hear at ESC to the contest. A lot will depend on the song that they end up selecting and how their instructions translate into reality. They could be in my top ten next year; they could be in my bottom five.

Guess Georia goes into hilarious mode just like they did with " I'm a Joker". Funniest thing they chose the band and now they are searching for a song - the only thing they said about it literally means nothing - " melodic song structure of alternative and indie rock with electronic beats, synths and/or samples, and club orientation of post-disco dance music ".
