Awxheart Well if it was someone else singing it the song certainly wouldn't have the same affect. The voice is the most import instrument and it's Kaliopi who makes this song. The worst part for me was I was thinking "Believe In Me" as I was listening to it for the first time, and with all due respect to Bonnie Tyler (who I love), that song of hers is just about the least thing I needed to be thinking about when listening to Kaliopi's entry. I think my problem is once someone has given me melancholy I expect them to be a wondrous depressed wreck for the rest of their music career, feeding me what I crave. "Dona" is so bright and feel good. I suppose I will need to want to feel good with it.

*cuddles back* Yes, that was my problem. Stupid levels of hype. If Rona Nishliu ever announces a comeback, i'll try and calm myself down. I didn't even so much want "Crno i belo" part two. I adore so many Kaliopi songs and she has plenty with just as strong an emotional pull. I find "Dona" quite standard by comparison. It's just a great song but as of yet i'm not on the floor having a seizure from how hot it is.

Think of it this way, she probably saw the terrible quality of songs this year and decided to lower her standards to give the others at least a fighting chance.

I love this actually! :D Best Kaliopi entry yet for me. It feels a bit old school Eurovision, which I'm not opposed to one bit.

Reminds me on the UK entry from 2013.

When Crno i belo was out I was like "Meh", but when she performed live I was absolutely shocked how good that was.

So, I hope that will happen with this song, too.

From what I remember, back in 2012 when "Crno i belo" came out, no one was really that thrilled about it and the production quality seemed weak.
The song spread to life on the Eurovision stage along with her voice.

And I can damn guarantee it that the same thing is going to happen with this one. She is going to make one hell of a show, create such an atmosphere that the audience will be left inspired once again.

Some people here are not really fans of Kaliopi. Whether you like an artist or not is a matter of taste and personal preference.

But, like her or not, you CANNOT deny that she is one those performers who really knows how to communicate a song that she sings to the audience, no matter what genre or ambient it has!

I'm still in a groggy and confused state from this songs reveal. I thought i'd wake up, suddenly feeling an idiot, going "Woah, best song ever!!!". A massive problem for me with "Dona" is the production. It makes "Maybe" sound as if it was recorded using the royal philharmonic orchestra. I remember there being complaints about the production of "Crno i belo" but I loved it from day one. The song was electrifying and poignant. "Dona" on the other hand is just sort of floating around, and the music isn't luscious or beautiful enough to excuse it's production shortcomings. It's Kaliopi who is making me listen to this. If the song was performed by anyone else, I would probably say "eh.. nice" and forget about it. I've always said the voice is the most important instrument, and that it's no good having a stunning piece of music if someone with no charm or sincerity is tacked on top of it. What we have here is the opposite, an average, (I hate this word) dated piece of music with the most extraordinary, charismatic artist who is lifting it to something way more than it probably deserves to be. I'm close to loving it now, but i'm annoyed with myself because it will be purely because of a voice.

Quick, someone get Kaliopi to give an impromptu performance of this on the piano, so I can cry sweet tears and finally say I love it with confidencexheat

She can sell her song, unlike the Romanian guy.

This reminds me of the old italian songs or the songs we used to have before 1989. What a fabulous song xheat 12 points!

I was one of them. I wasn't really impressed at the beginning but it grew on me and then in the SF night I fell in love with it. Kaliopi is a great performer and crossing fingers she will elevate this song in her live performance.

That's my hope as well. I usually don't encourage showboating but I hope Kaliopi decides to go nuts during the final chorus. As it stand at the moment it's got no "woah" moment. Kaliopi needs to take us to church. To destroy us with her extraordinary voice. I'm sure it will happen.

This is amazing... Loved Crno i Belo, love this. Yes it is old-fashioned, but it's genuinely good. And beautiful. That's all you need. And the emotion, feeling, atmosphere in this song beats everything for me, it's all I need. Italy and this have managed to make me tear up and smile at the same time so far this year. xcry1 I feel complete when I hear this. :D And we're in need of some good ballads this year.

Well, about that..........

I´m not a fan of his entry either, but I do think that the guy is flawless in the vocal department. Sure, his halloween-like stage show might be off-putting, but when I heard that his live singing is, like, totally identical to the studio version, I had to give him some sort of props. It is not gonna make me like his entry by any contrast more, but yeah.....vocal recognition is deserved.

Funny, looking at the difference in the polls here between Dona and Crno i Belo...there is very little difference so far. Dona has a slightly lower percentage of 12 points, but has less lower scores.

The song is good, but the production is poor, and that's mainly the reason it seems oldfashioned.
From me, 7 points, and good luck to Diva Kalliopi !
