YUKNO | Vergehen
One thing is unmistakable: Yukno has something completely different in mind than following the beaten path. Yukno – (spoken like “you know”) – is a band that approaches “discreetly electronic indie pop” from a slightly different perspective. The brothers Georg and Nikolaus Nöhrer, who once played local clubs successfully with the band Neodisco, are not interested in creating a party mood. Their songs adorned with thoughtful German-language lyrics reveal themselves as a musical invitation to let yourself go for a few moments and immerse yourself in the fine melodies, danceable beats, and the space-filling synths. In February 2018 the Styrian duo released their debut album “Ich kenne kein Weekend” .

Representing Norway in FSC January 2019, and returning to the FSC for Norway, is the talented young, very popular British-Norwegian Electronic Dance Music (EDM) -Producer and artist Alan Walker, this time featuring Swedish singer-songwriter Sophia Somajo on vocals. Here is some more information about them.
Alan Walker (born 24th August 1997) is a British-born Norwegian Record Producer and artist in the Electronic Dance Music (EDM)-genre. Born in Northampton, England of an English father and Norwegian mother, he and his family moved to Norway in 1999 at the age of two. He has since (for 17 years) lived in Bergen, Norway and has made his music career here.
In 2012 he started making music on his computer laptop, and with the help and online following and feedbacks, his own produced songs soon caught the attention of the record labels.
His worldwide digital song and EDM-hit "Fade" gained attention after its release on YouTube via the label NoCopyrightSounds (NCS). The tracks "Spectre" and "Force" followed in 2015. He then signed with MER Musikk under Sony Music Sweden and his first single under that label was "Faded", a remastered vocal version of "Fade", released in December 2015. "Faded" included vocals by the Norwegian singer Iselin Solheim. The song topped Scandinavian charts.
Alan Walker gained worldwide attention. As of June 2016, "Faded" had over 356 million views on YouTube, an incredible feat. At the beginning of the new year 2017, Alan Walker's YouTube channel became the most subscribed channel registered in Norway, after passing about 4.5 million subscribers. Sweden is starting off the new year on an uplifting note with the catchy, melodic and sympathetic dream house track Äventyr (Adventure) by 18-year old up-and-coming DJ music producer Teo Ludomir Wiik in a collaboration with 25-year old singer/songwriter Josef Johansson. The charming uptempo track, which incorporates dream house with Swedish vispop, comes with a nice message of self-exploration and is an optimistic way to start the new year.
Ludomir debuted already at the age of 15 back in 2015 with the track Ready for Your Love, and has later on followed up with singles like Kiss and Tell [2016] and Closing In [2017]. The single Äventyr, and this month's entry for Sweden, is Ludomir's first official release in Swedish and was released back in January 2018. Apart from waiting for his commercial breakthrough, Ludomir has also done remixes for other artists.
Josef Johansson is another up-and-coming young artist yet achieving his breakthrough. To fans of the Swedish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest; Melodifestivalen, some might recall his entry Hela natten (The Whole Night) from the 2014 selection.

Representing Norway in FSC February 2019 is a New artist in the FSC, the young, talented and popular up-and-coming Norwegian pop-singer and songwriter Astrid S. Here is some more information about her.
Astrid Smeplass (born 29th October 1996), known professionally as Astrid S, is a Norwegian pop-singer and songwriter from the village of Rennebu in Sør-Trøndelag fylke, a region south of Trondheim. She was interested in music from an early age and began piano-lessons at the age of 6. Then at the age of 9 she submitted an entry to MGP Junior together with 10-year old Celine Helgemo under the artist name AC: The Blue Snoopies. Representing Norway in FSC February 2019 is a New artist in the FSC, the young, talented and popular up-and-coming Norwegian pop-singer and songwriter Astrid S. Here is some more information about her.

CZECH REPUBLIC Entry for FSC #120: Katie Kei - Burn it down
Katie Kei is a young, 19-year-old talented singer born on July 27, 1999 in Brno, Czech Republic. She participated in the global competition event WCOPA (World Championships of Performing Arts) in the USA – Hollywood, where she was selected for final show among the top five junior singers. She was selected from enormous number of competitors. She won two gold medals, one silver, two bronze and awards Overall Winner. This great success guaranteed her a nomination for 2016 WCOPA. She took this challenge and was back in USA in 2016. This time she won not only medals, but also a certificate from an American producer, worth $ 5,000.
Kateřina Kolčavová alias KATIE KEI is young talented singer and actress. In 2008, thanks to audition, she have had the first chance to come to the stage – performing in The Three Musketeers at Brno City Theatre, where all her music and acting career began. She already had a role in famous musical Les Miserables or played children‘s role in Mary Poppins musical, where she was co-hosted together with Monika Absolonova in Prague.
In 2015 she represented the Czech Republic on WCOPA - World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, where she got through all rounds and was selected for Final show, winning the Champion of the World in junior vocal category.
In 2016, she also managed to win international competition Diamonds Voice.
Katie organized two solo concerts, and released her first original song. Now she tries to devote more to song writing and her own music creation.

For this edition, Sweden is keeping it uptempo but going in another direction than the previous month with the songwriting, production and artist duo of Vincent Pontare (Vargas) and Salem al Fakir (Lagola) and the catchy, subtlety country-inspired "Scandinavian-styled", Indie-Pop song "Roads". The song, released about a year ago, managed to peak within the top. 20 on the Swedish official singles chart and became a local radio hit throughout 2018.
This is the second time for Salem al Fakir as an artist in the FSC, the first being in FSC#23 - January 2011 with the entry "I'm So Happy". Technically, it's not the first time for the duo in the FSC either though since they were among the songwriters responsible for the following FSC entries:

Václav Bárta (born 27 October 1980), known as Václav Noid Bárta, is a Czech singer, songwriter, and actor.
He comes from an artistic family. His father is a writer and director, and his mother a singer. At age 17, he formed the Czech nu-metal group Dolores Clan and later on his musical band Noid Crew. He also appeared in local theatre and musical productions with acting and/or singing roles notably in Hamlet, Excalibur, Aida, Jesus Christ Superstar, Lucie, větší než malé množství lásky.
He released a number of singles as a solo artist and established his own music and video production house ParaNoid Studio.
He represented the Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 along with Marta Jandová with the song "Hope Never Dies".
