Is just that I wanted new artists or artists that few people has heard to be sent on eurovision,I didn't want big names because for me if the person is already big and has a successful career why would they want to go to Eurovision? It is like send Avicii(when he was alive) to represent sweden or Lukas graham to represent Denmark.
Well, it depends. I'd prefer these big names to compete in a NF, I'd love France to take inspiration from Benidorm Fest (and obviously Sanremo), but it's unlikely in the coming years. "Destination Eurovision" flopped in '18 & '19, even if some (former) big names were part of the lineup (Chimène Badi, Emmanuel Moire, Bilal Hassani, even Madame Monsieur weren't unknown when competing)

The thing is that French people usually don't like or hate Euro-Vision. We have already talked about this issue in this forum and I think that having big names is the best thing for France at Eurovision, getting a well liked act. It's not at all the music I listen to but I think that it's great, and he's very experienced so he shouldn't have stress issues.

Well at least it seems like France is taking Eurovision seriously. Since their 2nd place in Rotterdam it feels to me that some momentum is building for them, just like the Netherlands' 2nd place in Copenhagen, leading towards the recent victory.
I think France is getting their 6th victory sometime in the coming years I suppose!

But so are you saying that Lukas graham could represent Denmark or aurora could represent Norway? For example. I'm just asking out of curiosity, because I like both Lukas graham and aurora's songs.

If they want to, but dmgp and mgp aren't going to be ditched for them while France hasn't a strong nf format and can easily select internally who they want to.

Ok,but so thinking this way why not wood kid,m83 or indila? If I'm not mistaking, they are from France,no? I got surprised when I discovered wood kid was from France, but imagine a song like "run boy run" on eurovision. I would like because I like their songs but I'm saying that so big names like this feels wrong to see on eurovision. Like if the countries sent big names the competition would be unfair, don't you think? And the unknown and new artists wouldn't have chances to build a career or/and get known to the world.

I knew maneskin and duncan Laurence before Eurovision, and when I heard that they had won a competition named "-eurovision" I got interested and started to watch eurovision, just to see what it was about and I liked.

And if they don't do well,i woudn't like to see their career getting ruined because of that,is just sending really big names to eurovision doesn't feel right to me,i want to see unknown and new names, one of the reasons i watch eurovision, apart from the fact that i love music is to know and discover new music and artists. But i didn't know slimane before and i listened to his songs and i liked so i don't mind,i didn't thought we would get the first song this year, and i'm so happy with that.

Little additional info: it will be premiered on France 2's news broadcast (so probably around 20:15 or 20:30, not 20:00 exactly)
It isn't going to be on youtube? Where i can listen to the song when it get released?

Here's a little trivia tidbit for you guys: in the Battle Rounds of his season of "The Voice", Slimane defeated François Micheletto, who we all know as the former frontman of 2016 Cypriot representative Minus One

Well, what a surprise.
The lack of news clearly betrayed an internal selection like last year, but I didn't expect them to go to one of the big fishes. I don't know about the extent of his popularity abroad, but here each of his new releases gets broadcast on repeat.
It clearly shows FRTV aims to lift the popularity of ESC in the country by sending established artists, we can only salute them for their efforts.

Now about the choice itself. Slimane definitely knows how to sing and is experienced, it will be an asset for the live shows. However, I've never been a big fan of his music, these modern ballads get old very fast, and unfortunately Slimane tends to abuse them.
It's no wonder then that the title Mon Amour irked me like no tomorrow, but from his tweet we can hope that it relates to familial love rather than the romantic one.

I just fear it will be once again a very conforming entry. Is it too much to ask for some boldness on our part?
