Tom Leeb

Singer, actor and comedian Tom Leeb is a man of many talents. In 2019, he released his album 'Recollection' under the label Roy Music. A version of Tom's single, 'Are We Too Late', has clocked over 25 million views on YouTube.

The song is now called "Mon Alliée" (in english "My Ally") . I think it's a revamped Folk version with more french lyrics.

This is getting interesting but still changing it into (almost) French is not going to save this generic piece of crap with JL's name attached on it.

I can only guess they saw the bad response from the public and seeing how Switzerland comes with a better song in French, they decided to do this "drastic" change.

it's pretty bland, yes, but i can see this do pretty well with certain televoters with the right staging

On the one hand, hearing this song in all French and stripping it back down to a slower, smoother, acoustic version of this I feel would make this song feel a considerably more authentic and romantic and with the right staging could feel like a great 'moment' during the Finals.

On the other hand, well, we've all heard the song now, the genie is out of the bottle, just changing it into French isn't suddenly going to make us forget how generic is sounded/sounds (though granted if you can speak French it would do anyway) and a stripped back version could get smothered if its flanked by more 'explosive' tracks.

It just feels like a panicked reaction to how its been responded to in the wider fandom like the French Eurovision bosses are like "Oh no! Our made for Eurovision song and our dishy singer is going down like a lead balloon! The French public are pissed its partly in English and everyone else finds it dull! What can we do?! Can we get a new song?! No! I know! Lets put it in French, change a few lyrics and change the name! No one will know its the old song just repackaged! This is how we can still win it guys!!"

Putting it in French (presumably entirely) could even made the situation worse as people will now have 2 entries in French and will compare them even more. And this will show that Switzerland's entry is even more superior than the French one.

This song, if it had been sung entirely in French and a more acoustic sound had been chosen, would have been much better. The Swiss have shown France that singing in French is not a bad thing. It is true that the Monaco and Luxembourg are no longer to complete the winning block of the past (together with Belgium and Switzerland) but the French language has its charm and it sells well. Likely that the "Gson-Lundvik Pact" will guarantee France to go up a few steps in the standings and avoid "Bottom 5".

With all due respect, who from 12, 10 or "Top 10" this song does it openly in bad faith.

I hope for a positive French reaction soon. I am ready to increase mine vote and put France in the "Top 10" if it succeeds in this arduous undertaking.

An interview of the french head of delegation has been published, probably realized during the meeting of yesterday. She said that she listens to the critcisms on the song and that they're taking into account "built" criticisms (I don't know if you can understand, she means developed criticisms more than "bad song you'll be last, kill yourself and Steven back"). At the end of the interview, the interviewer said that they talked about the folk version with a french chorus and how they want to highlight the song in the actual contest. France Télévisions confirmed that they'll make an announcement on their officiel twitter @EurovisionF2 (we don't have any dates, though). She said again the interview that they want to be at the top of the scoreboard, they're still motivated. I want to forgive her the mistake of the song if the revamp is good.
