For me, your song is not bad and has potential. Personal opinion, I think something is missing to make this song strong. However, it's a catchy song, much better than many other songs I've listened to so far. I wait for Round 3 to place it deservedly in the ranking. Likely that by listening to "The Best In Me" again I will reevaluate it.I think people are exagerating because :
- it's France and y'all were expecting a french touch as usual.
- the song was composed by Sweden.
- Frenglish.
- DE isn't here anymore.
- french delegation overhyped it a lot.
But I think it's not that bad. It has a lot of potential for a phenomenal staging (sadly french can't do breathtaking staging). I'm happy to see that some people actually enjoy it. I'm not saying this will win (spoiler : it won't) or even be in the top 5, you are all free to have an opinion on the song, but I think it has much more potential than a lot of you could think (but that's just my opinion).
More sounds like melfest reject...Sounds like a reject from Eesti Laul

And you don't even see the problem with that ?
Did you read my post in its whole ?And you don't even see the problem with that ?

Yes, "The best in me" is dated, but I do think it will do better than 26th as lots of you seems to enjoy to say it (don't say "so 25th or 24th, lol").I like @FRFanESC 's optimism, but comparing it to "Aimer" just proves that "The Best In Me" is cheesy and is at least 20 years late.
And yet, "Aimer" has a better melody.

Then you should buy glasses :I did and I stand by my remark.
Sorry for the multiple posts but somehow it sounds very french, it reminds me of a song that I just remembered, "Aimer" from "Roméo et Juilette", a musical comedy played in the early 2000s :
And it was very VERY popular in France, especially that song. So it reminds me of a song that is almost 20 years aged, lol.
It makes me so sad for Tom to see all your reactions, he deserved a better song with his amazing voice, he is going to be humiliated (and France too in the same time). I just hope we'll finally have something modern next year. We're better at the JESC than at the regular contest, LOL. We need a "Bim Bam Toi"-like for 2021, like THE bop we've been waiting for.To be honest, I'm so angry with our HoD, which seems not to care at all about our opinion(s) nor the whole trend of music in Europe. Like, Steven Clerima did at least a great job by taking them into account.
I've never been as trashy with our country as before (wasn't even that mad seeing France choosing Lisa Angell ), but I just want us to finish as low as possible with the least amount of points ever, so that we could have our HoD finally understand, that a contest isn't about sending songs in English, which will appeal to a broader audience.
Portugal sent a Portuguese song in 2017, and guess what? They won.
Ukraine sent a Tatar/English song in 2016, and guess what? They won.
Then you should buy glasses :
I see the problem since I mentioned it : it reminds me of a song released almost 20 years ago. I never said I was ok with his song, I just think it's not as awful as you all say, I also think it won't be bottom 5 (at least I hope for him).Yes, it was popular... 20 YEARS AGO. You're stating the problem and you don't even seem to understand it.
The music industry has changed over the past two decades. I don't think 'Aimer' would have been a hit if it was released today. People are over vanilla songs.
Why should it work at Eurovision ?
I just hope we'll finally have something modern next year.
édit : By the way I can't understand why they didn't go for a bop after our results at the JESC, it's obvious that we needed that to slay the stage in may.
