I read most of the comments before i listen to the song. I thought that it is going to be very bad! And after i listened i can say you that it is a very good song and a positive surprise to me!

With this entry being released, it just proves further that too much ambition can make you lose your value. Sure France TV isn't a recording company... but with the fifth strongest musical industry in the world, why would you resort to some handicraft made by Swedes?

For the song itself... I thought to myself 'if @LastDreamer or @Citelis hears this, this will be their no. 1!' and yeah, it does sound like those sugary sweet tooth-aching sounds of the 90s-00s. Won't say it's a bad song, since it does have a good structure and instrumentation, but it really ages like yogurt in open air. I'm giving this a :2:, and I think that's really generous for my standard. I'll raise the points of their ally 🇦🇲 to 5 after this.

Also, with the release of this song I announce the most important French hashtag of 2020:

I worry this could do a lot better with Televoting than it looks now. Because it's your average talentshow winner song everyone in Europe is very familiar with. And he probably sells it a lot better than UK last year.

But from France it's a really big disappointment. There is not one little piece of identity in this song. Even the french verses make everything seem even more desperate.

Are you sure you were listening the right one?! :ROFLMAO:
I honestly ask myself the same question when I see certain votes. People shouting at the masterpiece for the songs of Norway, Lithuania and Latvia ... I have given a 4 rating to France but it is unfair to say that the French song is from 0. It is monotonous, it lacks soul but technically not it is bad and slightly reminiscent of the 90s boyband style. What's wrong with this evaluation?

The poll is horrible and unfair

What did you expect from a dated, old-fashioned, formulaic piece of cheesy trash which is lacking originality, oomph, identity and artistry?
This is not even on a "Bigger Than Us", "Waterfall" or "My Heart Is Yours" level.
+ This coming from France is unacceptable. They are no San Marino or Azerbaijan.

I think people are exagerating because :
- it's France and y'all were expecting a french touch as usual.
- the song was composed by Sweden.
- Frenglish.
- DE isn't here anymore.
- french delegation overhyped it a lot.

But I think it's not that bad. It has a lot of potential for a phenomenal staging (sadly french can't do breathtaking staging). I'm happy to see that some people actually enjoy it. I'm not saying this will win (spoiler : it won't) or even be in the top 5, you are all free to have an opinion on the song, but I think it has much more potential than a lot of you could think (but that's just my opinion).

This is EXACTLY what I was talking about, people have a lot of expectations for France but are disappointed every year, then get hyped next year, etc. But I repeat it : I'm not saying that "The best in me" is a masterpiece, far from that.

It's nowhere near as bad as you say. I think that peope exagerating because they expected something else. I see alot of potential here.

Sorry for the multiple posts but somehow it sounds very french, it reminds me of a song that I just remembered, "Aimer" from "Roméo et Juilette", a musical comedy played in the early 2000s :

And it was very VERY popular in France, especially that song. So it reminds me of a song that is almost 20 years aged, lol.

I think most people don't say song itself is very bad, actually in the end it will be better then good % of other entries. This is more about how lame the choice is - going with basic safe ballad by swedish songwriters - having super big and quality music industry in the country. France is not Moldova

My expectations were and are not high for France, sure this is different to what i expected but it's not a good different. In fact it's worse. To put it into context i didn't like Bilal at all last year, it was dull and insanely overrated by fans. Not to mention the blatant desperation of the staging that got many so wet it turned the floor into a slip and slide. But Bilal was still better than this, in fact half of the NF was, and i didn't think that was on fire either. Its just a bad song, it's the step back you've taken and a horribly flawed system of choices your delegation made to get to this song.

It's not the worst thing out there for sure, but my "we have decided to stan forever" t-shirt remains in the closet for the first time in years. Will give this a few more chances, it worked for Bilal.

I agree for some parts but :
- I don't think the song is that bad, most fans are just disappointed and angry because they had high hopes., we all know that fans are real drama-queens.
- I can't even tell myself if I like it or not because we've never been used to have "cliché" song like that.

Anyway I'm happy that we won't be overhyped by fans or bookmakers this year (maybe we'll be excepted to be 25th but we'll en dup 26th, lol) but I can't wait to see how they will stage the song and what kind of result we will get.

Actually, I think that my wording was already VERY generous.
This song is just simply lazy and desperate as hell. The French delegation just came up with the least possible amount of effort asking the first three former Eurovision composers they could think of to come up with a soulless, cliché entry.

Seriously, I'm glad you enjoy this and I know that there are people around who also did like "Perfect Life" and "Sister" but there's no effing way this will attract more than 10 televoting points in May.

And you don't even see the problem with that ?
