Strange to see France is by far the placed Big 5 country. :D

I thought the British and Spanish songs were the best of those prequalified. Amir got a fair lot of hype and no doubt he is very personable but I found the chorus weak.

I have seen over the past several weeks a lot of people...underwhelmed by Amir's performance, fans and detractors of the song alike, many of whom place the blame for turning what was expected to be a victory into a still very strong 6th place squarely on his live vocal. Well, I come here to defend his performance with the warning that it could always, ALWAYS be worse: https://www.facebook.com/EurovisionQuestions/posts/1099510390116530

Our commentators just laughed their asses off when our spokesperson completely failed at singing the melody  What was she thinking?
Not satisfied with her epic fail, she succeeded in embarrassing us with her all-over-the-place speech xfacepalm Somehow when her name was announced, I knew a mess was coming

I've found the video with the French commentators, the fact that they laughed so naturally cracked me up

Why do we always have embarrassing people? No way Björkman approved of this lame speech!

I also think she said too much in English. Why ? France has to preserve the few of French language that still remains in the contest, and it goes by the points anouncement from the spokesperson. Luckily, next year, Belgium will anounce the points in French as well.

I think she was great and funny, showing true happiness. She handled the 12p push from Petra with true class actually. The laugh from the commenters wasn't showing much class though. Note that Petra gave her some extra space.

I think she did a good job. If you want to see a bad French spokesperson, watch the spokesperson from 2014.

As of now, France has the first official video this year to break 10 million views on the ESC YouTube channel (over 10.1 million), and his album is currently #7 on the French chart. I also found out Amir will be performing at the Europa Plus Live 2016 concert in Moscow in July

well, she was just thanking all the people behind the Eurovision, those who make it possible (engineers, technicians, etc.). But I agree it was quite long and not necessary.

Also mixing French and English, the way it was done in 2015 and this year, is much more welcoming towards an international audience. In 2014, the contrast of languages made the French spokesperson stand out very awkwardly since she was the only person speaking French that year. I think the French spokespersons should keep the current approach, which means they can say something in their own language and reach out to an international audience at the same time.

By the way, if anyone's in the Brussels area on May 27, Amir will be performing at the NRJ Music Tour stop there

It's funny that in that video with the spokesperson she emphasises the hook, which is what makes the song sound weak. Lingering out a word like that rarely sounds good, and it just sounds weak rather than powerful here too.

An article in French about ESC results, interview with Nathalie André, well-known TV producer, here she talks a lot about Amir, says she's very happy with his achievement, compares last year's participant Lisa Angell with Jamala, speaks ironically about Russian staging (compares Sergey with David Copperfield )), says that she wouldn't like to be in Ukraine's place to host ESC 2017 because of war etc.

Amir wowed the crowd at today's NRJ Music Tour concert in Brussels, he performed "J'ai cherché" as well as "On dirait", which will be the next single from his album. Tomorrow he will be at Parc Asterix in Plailly
