RainyWoods, you always make for the most interesting read ever, but what the heck!, how can anyone consider The Netherlands a fan favourite? Who favours it? There's absolutely no maye about it. Sure, it's a nice, singalong, innofensive piece, but the woman's over forty (something eurovision is quite ruthless about, unless it's some sort of classy number, which this isn't) and I don't think the why ai ai goes quite so smoothly live. She's in with a slight chance because the song is catchy first time, but I really don't think she'll do it. Of course it's going to stay in the semi and I can't see anybody getting too upset about it.
It's not particularly popular around here but it seems a fair few fans are fond of it elsewhere. I think I just wanted some kind of excuse to say that I think it's going to do very badly
I actually do find the song offensive.. offensively uncreative and horribly monotonous with it's ceaseless Why yai yai yai's that make me want to relive my window jumping glory days each time I even think about them. You're right, with all due respect to the artist (who is better than the song), she's reached an age now sadly where it can be difficult to sell certain songs to an audience. It's not Trijntje herself though here that is the problem, the song is just dull and uninspired. I think The Netherlands failure is even more obvious than Israel was last year. Each time i've given my prediction for "Walk Along" my opinions have been met with people strongly expressing the complete opposite of what I think is going to happen. So someone is going to be wrong1
