When I listened through the Instagram bits (which are hard to judge, but still find them interesting in many parts) I noticed that it was many "normal" songs in this edition. I suppose the absolutely crazy final from last year scared YLE a bit, which contained EVERYTHING you can't think of in a ESC final.
So I suppose that it will be a much more calm year this time, maybe also one that the right song wins (and not the fennoswede one just by default as in the past)

Well, I guess it could be translated The Main Guys or something. It is ambiguous because pää means both head and main. Äijä usually means just a guy, sometimes a father in slang.
Anyway, I hope they don't do well...

Been listening to a few and I must say: A lot of them are rather bland, I do have my favourite already, but gotta listen to all of them. Yet the music videos are once again pretty good

Ooh, Mikael Saari's song is certainly... interesting. I know I like it, but I've got no idea yet of whether it's a mild like or an absolute love. Two listens so far, and I still can't quite wrap my head around it - there's no real chorus, no real repetition, and a lot of building, flowing parts to it. It's certainly unique, but I think I'll need another ten or twenty listens at least to figure out exactly what I think - I could end up seeing it as just another decent song or an absolute masterpiece.

Saari's song is a bit of a letdown. The snippet we heard was literally the best part of the song.

Just listened through them all and will share my opinions later but two things:
1. Nothing compares to Opera Skaala. Not even close.
2. That Mikael Saari song is a major let down. After such an incredibly poignant and powerful piece of music he comes back with that strangely dull, overproduced and exaggerated song. So unfortunate. I was all ready to support him.
