i have actually crunched the numbers and for this decade (not counting this year yet), ukraine is by far the best placed country on my personal rankings, with second place having an average placement almost twice as big as ukraine's.

Still lots of ties! That's annoying!

Even though Slovenia isn't in my top 10 this year (due to Raiven not being their representative), they're still leading. Ukraine catches up with their second win, and then comes Azerbaijan that has been quite consistent for me in recent years. Honorable mention to Slovakia still resisting despite not reaching my top in 2011/2012 and not participating ever since.

The number of countries that never entered my personal tops has been reduced, please note that Denmark got one point from me by default in 2013 because it was a very weak year to me, otherwise they should have been part of the nul pointers for the time being.

As for me: my favorites are
since great songs (mostly) that get underrated
because they have sent great songs ever since 2005 (forget 2008).
rarely disappoints
I have loved since their return, including a first place this year
since their epic return
quite obviously, for melfest and great songs
has nice songs most years (2005, 2006, 2009, 2011-2016) and are way too low Mostly (poor Virginie and Amandine)

That song is LIFE, isn't it? And I don't mean it in an ironic way. Yes, it was partly presented as a troll/joke effort, but I think that was a musically-interesting composition and the lyrics about today's society on social networks were spot on. Besides, Valentina gave a good performance and the staging was appropriate. What's not to like? I think most people didn't like the song because it was speaking the truth about how our behaviours changed with the arrival of Internet.

Hey, thank you! Nice to know we once again share some hidden gems which were unfairly overlooked.

I agree, Estonia's track record slays, too bad that they're also underrated. I hope their NF won't allow Swedish imports next year as it was rumoured to, they definitely don't need foreign composers. I'm so looking forward to the next Czech efforts, this year I feared they would send something completely Americanized and "out there" because "Hope Never Dies" kind of failed, but that was eventually unjustified

Hello there After weeks of reflection, I am finally relatively satisfied with my 2017 top 10: the weird thing this year is - apart from the fact I had no super hot favourite for the first time ever - I knew which ten songs would be featured in my personal top while ironically I had no idea how to rank them. It's been difficult to come up with my current ranking, it might change slightly when I update my post next year, but it does the job for now.

I also seize this opportunity to update some of my previous rankings a little (2009, 2011 and 2016) because I felt some songs were still underrated by me.

For me, this year has mainly confirmed that Azerbaijan are still consistent in my book, as they are now 5 points away from leading the scoreboard. While my all-time favourite nation Slovenia had a comfortable lead despite missing my top a few times, their recent wrong picks are slowly but surely jeopardizing their superiority. Again, I may have spammed every thread of the forum saying this, but Raiven - either in 2016 or 2017 - would have guaranteed big points from me. I would hate to completely lose interest in their efforts, but if they don't improve starting from next year, someone else will overtake them eventually and deservedly.

On another note, Armenia have decided to slay and enter the overall top 5. I hope they'll keep on pushing boundaries, their avant-garde pop efforts suit them well imo. Bulgaria remain strong for the second year in a row and could surprise me in the following editions. On the contrary, Albania and San Marino are sadly losing momentum.

It seems the number of countries that never entered my personal tops hasn't decreased in the slightest, I have yet to be impressed enough by all those null pointers (even though Georgia came really close this year with "Keep The Faith" and Iceland missed their first top 3 with me by not sending "Is This Love?". As a true ESC fan, I'm totally unbiased nation-wise - of course, my expectations differ from one country to another - but if I love a song, it'll rock my top regardless of who sends it. With that being said, I hope to see new "faces" and dark horses next year.
