MACEDONIA:

Wow, what a performance! Her voice is amazing! Everything about her rehearsal is amazing! I must say, I doubted how well this would do with the song choice, but everything does sound much, much better when it is performed live! Kaliopi has definitely improved since her previous rehearsal. She is able to hit the right notes at the right pitch whilst still singing powerfully! I cannot wait to see how this will look on the evening of the show!

Interesting. I found the first rehearsal more powerful, certainly in the angriest part of the performance, at around 1:45. Her movement at that point was more majestic in the first rehearsal, more of an explosion, which made it more convincing. I really wish the best for Kaliopi and maybe I'm too critical right now.

I agree with your last sentence though. Waiting for ESC to begin is like waiting for christmas when you were a child. If not worse...

Kaliopi's voice was more powerful in the first rehearsal but she was also very out of tune. :? Today's performance was much more controlled and she still sounded strong.

Regarding her movements, I do agree with you that she needs to be more majestic. Nevertheless, today was an almost flawless performance. :)

MALTA:

There are so many good aspects in this performance but when everything is put together, it does not seem right. I am still unsure whether Kurt will pull of the high pitched singing while a random girl is taking his place. I guess we will see how strong this will look and if everything goes together on camera.

Moldova:

I still don't really don't like the song (but I don't dislike it either), but I can see why people like it. For me the song is not funny enough to call a fun song, but it's not really a serious entry either. But I have to give it to the Moldovan team: the unusual choreography really makes this entry stand out. It all looks just a bit different from the average, and it's also witty. It's just fun to watch and there will be enough first time viewers who will cheer for it. This should qualify in the weaker first semi.

Ireland:

I really like the shoes the twins are wearing this time. I wonder what brand they are and where I can buy them. For the rest I can't help but looking at this little show with the corners of my mouth pointing south. Their dance moves look unsmooth and uncontrolled in a staccato way; I guess it's supposed to be energetic and energizing. But most of all: the vocals of this duo are still so poor. I like to think of them as two busy hornets that are looking to sting you with intent. And there are plenty of fans whose eyes and ears are itching and need exactly that kind of treatment. So they will fly to the final.

Netherlands:

Oooph...I'm really holding my heart on this one. Sometimes it's better to keep my mouth tightly shut so I won't comment on this one profusely. I'm still hoping for a "Kinderüberraschung", that the first and now second rehearsal that we've seen so far are just the outer shell and that the real thing, presented to us on Eurovision night(s), will look surprisingly different. In my opinion, the Dutch tend to focus almost entirely on the quality on the song and if it will do well in Europe and unfortunately less on how to make a song visually pleasant à la 21st century. The progress is there this year but still looks like an infant step.

Russia:
I actually like the lighting and effects during the slow part of the song. The oven is smoking, the stage is too  and the lights just cut through that.
Its almost as if 6 LONG-time friends have gathered after a long day of work. They are tired but then they realize, hey, we are together we have pies waiting for us in the oven, life is good! and they sing and dance inviting everyone who passes by to their party that is definitely for everybody!

Serbia:
similar lighting is used in Zel'ko's performance. It makes this first part of the song so personal, intimate and ethereal. The colors on the stage, be it the clothes or the backdrop, are very minimalistic, focusing on Zeljko's perfect vocals, powerful music and emotions conveyed by voice and face (but, we will need more close up shots of Zeljko at the live show. i know that this was just the general video from the arena, and there were people running around with cameras on stage, so i don't think that will be a problem :) )

Austria: I KNEW IT! Like many others, i guess they would get something similar to the "Danny Saucedo suits".... just hope they can actually get them in sync and not just turning on and off randomly as it seems now.

Ireland: I liked the old suits better. And where's the fountain?

Netherlands: New background, slightly better looking outfit.

Malta: Still think the "crabcore" steps look ridiculous.

Belarus sounds much better this time than the first rehearsal, especially the vocals. But what's with the stands? I am not sure if I like them or not!

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2012: REHEARSALS

i hate to admit it but i actually liked Belarus 2nd rehearsal. They might actually grab onto one of those last few spots to qualify. I'd hate that because i really dislike the group and how they handled themselves. i want them to fall, crash and burn  (i'm a nice person, i promise  )
THANK GOD they took that awful netting off of the lead singer. the metal "tank top" looks better.
but my oh my... please someone fire that make up artist!
and i still hate the backdrop it makes me dizzy

Sigh... I just can't watch this. I can't remember I've watched videos of these ladies for full 3 minutes. Almost always I had to skip. In songs I want to see meaning and I want to see some creativity. Either in lyrics, or in the music or in both. There's hardly anything of that here. Other joke entries this year have at least some creativity in them. And I don't feel any 'cuteness' either. There's just this whole lot of nothingness. The dresses make me sneeze. The second most overrated entry this year.

PORTUGAL:

Filipa's vocals are flawless and she looks stunning! I am glad that they kept the Lisbon backdrop as it creates a wonderful atmosphere on stage. The performance is simple but effective. This will obviously receive huge support from the jury.
