Really nice comments indeed. I'm kinda addicted to Ukraine's song, omg, it's just too cool!! She is very very beautiful and her voice, is just perfect. I really hope it wins, or top3 at least.

My other favourite entry, is Turkey!! Wohaa, they rocked...It really made people cheer up, was full of energy!!

Wow what an amazing second semi final. This years final will definately be one of the best ever.

Georgia reallt surpassed all expectations, I really think this is be the biggest dark horse ever!
Ireland had a beautiful performance, lighting perfected and complemented her fantastic voice and song.
Israel - he pushed far too hard, he was lucky to qualify!
Armenia - well same as Israel, vocally one of the worst of the evening. Shame as was one of my overal faves!
Bulgaria - wow, where did that come from? Great!
Croatia - personally I loved it and cannt believe it didnt get through. Very much similar to the slovakia shock in semi 1.
Cyprus - what a lovely song, sung very well. Again, could do very well.
Sweden - much better than anticipated for me. Thought it was battling for 9-12th place but obviously just missed out!
Ukraine - I quite liked it but didnt think it should have got through. She was flat in places.
Romania - Loved it! One of my faves. Great performance.
Denmark - could do very very well on the night. Really lovely and lively performance!
Lithuania - What a shambles. I know it was fun but seriously...pathetic!
Slovenia - really not my cup of tea, im glad it didnt qualify
Turkey - lively and different, I really liked it and has gone way up in my expectations. Could even win on the night!
The Netherlands - Oh please! What are you playing at? Horrid!
Switzerland - Ridiculous!

All in all Georgia suprised me the most and I really hope they do well as now they are my top 5. Shame Croatia didnt get through. Love Ireland, azerbiajan, Romania and Denmark.

i am so sorry for anna, not for us as a country, we need to wake up and change our hole melodifestivalen tradition - get more modern. im just really sad it was anna who was the one that gave us our first loss. i think she was perfect - although the song isn't.
lets just hope that svt deconstructs the whole thing and we will wee a much better show next year!

very happy about ukraine. best performance, outstanding. then after her turkey. azerbaijan was a mess and i hope for god sake that it will flop on saturday. armenia was also a mess but will do good as always. georgia is a good song - but a horrible performance.
ireland and denmark - chocked about those two - denmark is a rip off of so many songs and its oldfashioned and simply boring. ireland - its also very boring and she can't really sing - it sounded awful many times.

i knew croatia would flop. it was a very cold performance and shouty voices. and there was too few balkan countries in here to save them.

cyprus - a nice surprise!

romania - was a secure and nice show.

as for israel, he was, like ireland, out of tune a whole lot of times. so i hope he was on the edge on qualification - otherwise the jury has to pay more attention to the voice. not just the song and his look...

ok, my favourite is ukraine - and i think she might make it.

This year that was supposed to be the one with the fairest results because of the 50-50 is being the weirdest ever.
Yeah, we have every year some shocks. But this year we've had three (Slovakia, Croatia and Sweden) from the favourites that didn't make it. That's just a disgrace and also very weird. something's just not going well :(
For the last time, Sweden was not a favourite! The only people Sweden was a favourite for were the Swedes, select Norwegian "experts" and a few vocal fans here on the forums. That does not a favourite make. Have you seen her odds?! Her best odds was 7th! Many bookmakers had her much lower because they realize what a snorefest she was!

Ok.... I know you didnt like the song, or Annas voice. I am certain if she was trying to make a living in music, and study, she would definately get into higher education because she has a great voice. But what you say about thaat she was a big favorite in sweden is all wrong. Maybe among the people who voted for her, but the media wasnt at all on her side. Actually Aftonbladet, Expressen was going towards the idea that Anna should winn the hole thing when the they started rehearsing . At first the swedish media said she wouldnt win. But rest of europe was more or less on her side... even norway stated she would win. So you actually talking crap if you telling us in this forum that she was a big favourite in Sweden, because that was never the case. But those people who want to have songs that acutally has a heart, lost tonight. I still think this song Anna sang was the song with most heart and soul. Not just an popsong. And she just made it a lot better.

But to be honest... This isnt a fiasko for Sweden at all. We (as someone stated before in the forum) can win but for another country. And that do tell that Sweden is still a big country in the Eurovision.

Now when I've calmed down from last night's shock, I just want to say that people who don't follow ESC were impressed with the two songs from tonight's semi. It's Turkey and Ukraine. I was so pleasantly surprised with those two entreis. People around me were like wow is it possible that songs as these appear on the ESC
Conclusion: Turkey will win

I agree with Wittgenstein about Ukraine. Amazing voice and a perfect mood for one girl with a ventilator. Very very good song, but not ESC stuff.

Turkey is still my favorite, even though there were bits where the voice was covered by the instrumental.
Georgia - I liked her energy but I'm not a fan of the "Sarah Connor" stuff (song) there.
Azerbaijan - Ehm... She was good, should've run less. Again, not a fan of the style, so...
Armenia - I loved... her hair :D Really. What? That's irrelevant? I don't think so.
Ireland - I know, she won 17 years ago. Maybe it felt a bit arrogant. Confidence is good but...
Who else who else?
Right, the BAD sides: Netherlands  ... And Lithuania, with the glittery funky panties.

Oh, us....Well, them. Romania. Good performance. I'm not a fan of his voice but I loved how hers sounded.

Does anybody know what happened with the semi 2 prediction topic?

This is not out of bias. But rather simple logic. The winner of eurovision should have a blend of English lyrics, good vocals, And an electric stage effect to blend all together for an amazing performance. Romania is the only one that truthfully fits that. . And perhaps turkey.

I didn't say that at all. I said that she was only a favourite among [some] Swedes. As in the only people she was even close to being a favourite was (some) Swedes, (some) Norwegians and some fans here on ESCToday.

What rest of Europe? Did you see her press conferences? The only media present were Swedish and Norwegian. Gee, where was the rest of Europe?

Name 5 countries where at least two columnists/"experts" predicted her to win. Heck, name one single betting list which has her finishing Top 5.

Yes. ANd I said that.

Sweden is always a big favourite in Sweden because the Swedish people delude themselves into thinking their entry will win. It might not be a favourite among the majority of viewers in Sweden, but there wasn't a single country in Europe that holds Sweden in higher regards than Sweden this year besides possibly Norway, but I doubt even that.

Who cares? It's garbage. Who cares if it has heart if it's garbage and the number was badly presented? The only saving grace was that Anna's voice isn't total garbage.

What's wrong with pop, anyway? And, newsflash, "This Is My Life" is. Being a ballad doesn't make it any less of a pop song.

It is a giant fiasco. Because Sweden keeps electing garbage to represent us, which is why so many songwriters send their best entries abroad. Because they know that their numbers would never be elected by the deluded Swedish people who keep electing songs anyone with half a brain know will be rejected by the European people.

I've been telling you all Sweden was going to fail ever since the end of Melodifestivalen and a bajillions fans fought me tooth and nail on these forums, insisting Sweden wasn't going to fail, that Sweden was guaranteed Top 10 or Top 5. No, it was perfectly clear to me and anyone who knows how Eurovision works that the song was going to fail.

Just because you like a song doesn't mean the rest of Europe, even Western Europe, will! Nobody cares that Anna came 2nd or whatever at Swedish Idol. What Europe got to see last night was an 18 yearold going on 30 dressed peculiarly (really? Stockings, a short dress, a quasi-tiara and converse?!), a bad stage show (swaying to the music, random glowsticks at the start of the song for no reason (they would've made a much greater impact if they were lit later on in the song), a voice that's at times frail and about to break (in a bad way), a voice that's very niche and definitely not going to be popular among Eastern European voters and an interminably boring song. Especially the first time you hear it. It is not a song which works the first time you hear it. You don't even remember most of it the first time you hear it because the song's range isn't that large. She stays pretty much within one single octave throughout the entire song (until the bridge), which, combined with her deep and niche voice, makes the song sound extremely monotone. The first time you hear it, you can barely make out the refrain from the verse and afterwards, it's all just a jumble of sounds. You can barely remember much about the song.

Being the 7th song to perform, many viewers had already had enough time to grow weary or needed a break to go pee or make some more popcorn. Anna's song is interminably boring the first time you hear it, especially the verse. Many viewers probably got up to go to the bathroom, get more crisps/chips or started chatting amongst their friends.

It's clear that the Swedish people does not know what will work at Eurovision. For example, you seem to think Anna had a flawless performance overall and that it's shocking she didn't make it to the final and end up Top 5, even going as far as deluding yourself into thinking that "All of Europe said she deserved to win". Really, what countries were those? Doesnotexistia?

Maybe now the Swedish people will wise up: If you want to do well at ESC, stop voting for Swedish Idol cast-offs (because they are young, inexperienced and will undoubtedly screw up!), stop voting for songs which only work in Sweden, stop voting thinking only of what song is your favourite personal entry. Start voting for songs which have an international sound and which will work internationally, both in Western Europe and Eastern Europe.

Chill guys. The final word on Sweden: Ola - Unstoppable would've made the final, Eric Saade - Manboy would've made the final, Salem - Keep on walking - would've made the final, pauline even wouldve made the final

the final word. they chose a good song, but not a good EUROVISION song

No, "we" (I certainly didn't vote for her) chose a bad live act. The song simply does not work live. Maybe as a relaxing song on the radio, but not live. Live, it's interminably boring.

Perhaps contoversially, I preferred the first semi-final to this one. Not to say, however, that it was an interesting affair.

The second semi-final for me was weighted heavily towards the same tactics that several notable countries took in the 2006 contest: namely that this is the year for a ballad to win. Will we perhaps see a repeat of this where an upbeat 'different' song wins overall? Who knows. For me, last night was all about the Romanian entry - catchy, upbeat and with a great stage presence. It was also good to see a return of Niamn Kavanagh to the contest, albeit with a similar song that used to win it for Ireland in the 1990s. Quite pleased to see they jacked in the Turkey from a few years ago

I had a certain amount of affection for the Swiss entry, though I didn't think it was the sort of thing Europe would go for, and not benefitted at all by notable friends. Though saying that, the Baltic states can often pull together, and this year has been a resounding defeat so far for that particular brand of tactical voting - yet the likes of Ukraine (which had a decent song), Belarus and Russia can still to a degree rely on each other.

Going to be a fascinating Saturday night!

She sings well if a bit harsh at times, but I still find the song very dull, so no you are not alone.

Thank god! I began wondering what's wrong with me not to notice anything special in it, heh. Also, what's up with that outfit?
