I thought MALTA already performed? Whats up with Chiara??
Oh, this is Iceland, LOL.
I imagine a slim, flexible chick dancing her way through this song, instead of a Chiara.

Which means, the concept of the performance does not match the song.
But good song.. :D

Ukraine isn't the only country to have their gimmicks denied. The same happened to Romania who in 2005 wanted fire on stage in Kiev but it was rejected (Ruslana had fire in the opening), and in 2006 they wanted dancers to be suspended from the ceiling (Helena Paparizou's dancers were suspended in the opening too). Also I don't think a gimmick would really be useful for Alyosha, it would probably distract from her vocals (the main feature) rather than aid her.
Yes, but there were no juries in 2005 and 2006.
Well, I'm not sure if these problems would influence the juries but I agree that gimmick stuff would distract from her.

I am confused...how are Belarus a part of favouritism? This is only the second time in the space of 5 years they have qualified. Don't get me wrong, the song is TERRIBLE!!! And all the songs mentioned as having special effects were the winners of the previous year? Paparizou, Ruslana, Bilan had large budgets, of course they could do those things for their song, Laboda, Romania have to stick to budget and a fair playing ground to all other countries. Im glad, this year seems very clear of favouritism. I believe that some of the best songs made it through, some of the worst too, but at least countries that havent made it often (Belgium, Belarus) get their chance.
And who said that they are a part of favoritism?
Stick to budget? what budget? They had their budget and their equipment - they negotiated with organizers but they were denied. A fair play to other countries? And what's so unfair? ;) Every broadcaster/performer decide for themselves how to perform.

I think that all songs deserve to be in final;)

for people the most important was ''song'' but for the jury it was perfomance and controlling stress. I am satisfied with the results of the first semi-final. It is a lesson for many of us, because typing songs for a few months ago is stupid. Certainly the biggest loser are Slovakia and Latvia, and the luckiest are Russia and Belarus.......

by the way the final without Russia and Greece???:O it would be impossible:p:p:p.

I found last night's show much worse comparing to the one in Moscow (i mean on the semis). Something was missing....But ESC is ESC anyway :D

I am very happy to see Serbia in the final once again :D Milan sung a bit worse than on the rehearsals, but it definetly stood out imo. Well, now he can end in top 15 in the final and i'll be more than happy :p

There were some very negative surprises, like Russia qualifying  (actually, this isn't a surprise really, but rather....undeserved), PORTUGAL (i know that we have juries this year, but still  I predicted that this one will finish on the very bottom), and Belarus (everything was so fake, and those wings.....yuck).

Slovakia failed :( But i can very clearly see why. She was very very bad on stage, and as soon as I heard the first half of the song, I knew that she won't make it. Finland, on the other hand, had an awesome performance along with Poland and I can't see why they failed :(

Belgium, Greece, Iceland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Moldova all nailed the stage, and those are all deserved qualifications :D

I think even more surprises are yet to come tomorrow.

Btw, I liked how they didn't show our map

Well, I am so happy because Vukasin went to the final. And Serbia also deserved it. I sent 5 votes for Milan.
Belgium, Moldavia and Albania also deserved final, and they did it.

Russian song is unusual and I don't see the reason of hate them. Yes, it is so bad song when you compare it with other Russian song but it is intereseting. But, it is a suprise, to see Russia in the final.

Belarus is IN also, and they are big suprise.

Slovakia not qualifying was nothing but a disaster. Slovakia deserved that place in the final so much more than some of the qualifying countries (namely Portugal, Iceland, and Belarus).

Seriously, it goes beyond my mind how Belarus and Portugal could qualify. The Belarussian performance in particular was tasteless, especially the wings in the end. Eeeew. This goes straight to the top of my all-time worst ESC-songs.

Also it's worth pointing out Iceland's qualification. What do people see in this song? :|

Yes and she wasn't the only one! Hera is the best vocalist in this year's ESC! Who else CAN sing live like her?

And by the way I liked Slovakia!

I was happy with the songs in general. I loved Greece (and not because I'm Greek) and I also liked and voted for: Finland (shame it didn't qualify :( ), Russia (I was very happy Peter made it  ), Serbia (go Milan  ), Latvia and Poland (I didn't have high hopes for them but still... :| ).
I also liked Belgium and Iceland and I was sure they would qualify.
Portugal surprised me and I voted for Filipa in the end although I hadn't planned to...I'm glad she qualified, she deserved it.
I was sorry about Slovakia because it was a good song but Kristina's performance ruined it...from the very first time I had seen that song live in the Slovak final, I had noticed that this girl is nervous and if she was nervous in her own country, how would she be in Oslo? Turned out I was right but I wasn't happy about it.
One thing I didn't like was the camera work. Both in the Greek song and in the Slovak song, the camera shots were very bad...it seems to me that when it's dance songs, the director doesn't do well..he was fine with ballads.
