The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 Grand Final is now over. Congratulations to Sweden for winning with 583 points. Congratulations Loreen, you're only the second Eurovision artist to win the Eurovision Song Contest twice. Several other Eurovision winners have returned to represent their country again, and failed to win again. In addition, you have earned Sweden its 7th Eurovision victory, putting you in a tie with Ireland for most Eurovision Song Contest wins (7). I'm proud of you. Sweden: Winners 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015, 2023. 8 years' gap between wins.
Well done also to Finland for getting over 300 public vote points (presumably winning the public vote - I've still not been able to find an official full breakdown of the results online yet) and finishing second outright with 526 points.
Commiserations to the UK's Mae Muller for finishing 25th with just 24 points. It's sad to go from 2nd in 2022 to 2nd from last in 2023, but that said, France went from 2nd in 2021 to 2nd from last in 2022. Effectively the UK has done a France 2022 this year.
Commiserations to Germany for finishing outright last again this year, but at least you got more points this year (18 altogether).
Well done to all 26 finalists tonight, no matter where on the scoreboard they placed. Don't forget, 20 of tonight's finalists already did well just to get past the applicable semi-final in the week. Remember, 11 countries' songs failed to reach tonight's final.
For the record, I voted for: Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Lithuania, Cyprus, Italy.
