The Met Gala's been postponed, and that's in May :/
Edited to add: that, along with so many other things have the tile of "postponed indefinitely", and with others saying that the arena's calendar is filling up the rest of the year, would they move it from Rotterdam to one of the finalist cities? Would they re-arrange things?
I guess it really depends on how the stakeholders, or mostly the Reference Group, will arrange the next possible plan. Let's say they decided to make the show in July and for example they still want to use Ahoy as the venue, I feel there will still be discussions with NPO and Rotterdam whether they are capable enough to do it (I'm actually biased positively that they would, though
). They would then probably construct an official statement regarding the postponement.
I feel it will be with everybody's understanding if the concerts filling up the schedule of June-July
in the example would have to willingly postpone their agendas, ever a statement like that got issued. I mean, the postponement of Eurovision wouldn't
even happen if there were no ultimate state of emergency like the COVID19 outbreak. The bad side is that Ahoy would lose a lot of their booking funds if some events got canceled, but the good side is that they would still become the venue for the ultimate international musical event.
On the other hand, artists
and other people involved might also have some kind of clause in the contract to bind them in participation. Ever a postponement happens and that clashed with their other promotional events, I don't think they can resign that easy. That would mean it's also a financial loss to these participants for cancelling the other events, but again, that's with an understanding of the recent situation and the contracts that they've signed.
In short, that's what I think would happen ever a postponement occurs.
