Not wanting to dance anymore, but I must dance
The Met Gala's been postponed, and that's in May :/

Edited to add: that, along with so many other things have the tile of "postponed indefinitely", and with others saying that the arena's calendar is filled up the rest of the year, would they move it from Rotterdam to one of the finalist cities? Would they re-arrange things?

I guess it really depends on how the stakeholders, or mostly the Reference Group, will arrange the next possible plan. Let's say they decided to make the show in July and for example they still want to use Ahoy as the venue, I feel there will still be discussions with NPO and Rotterdam whether they are capable enough to do it (I'm actually biased positively that they would, though xheat ). They would then probably construct an official statement regarding the postponement.

I feel it will be with everybody's understanding if the concerts filling up the schedule of June-July in the example would have to willingly postpone their agendas, ever a statement like that got issued. I mean, the postponement of Eurovision wouldn't even happen if there were no ultimate state of emergency like the COVID19 outbreak. The bad side is that Ahoy would lose a lot of their booking funds if some events got canceled, but the good side is that they would still become the venue for the ultimate international musical event.

On the other hand, artists and other people involved might also have some kind of clause in the contract to bind them in participation. Ever a postponement happens and that clashed with their other promotional events, I don't think they can resign that easy. That would mean it's also a financial loss to these participants for cancelling the other events, but again, that's with an understanding of the recent situation and the contracts that they've signed.

In short, that's what I think would happen ever a postponement occurs.

Postcards have just been canceled. I assume they will be shot in every respective country or there will be no postcards at all.

Tumblr, mostly.
post-poned to the end of the year would be my guess.

It would be a logistical nightmare though. Like, we could be entering a situation where 2021 entries are being selected before the 2020 contest has even ended.

I don't see much potential for logistical nightmares really. If there are any problems, it's just stuff you have to deal with. It's not like alternatives exist.

Postponement seems the only plausible option in my opinion. Forget about the empty arena, and about any other thing...

Is it really necessary to be take the VERY extreme measure of skipping 2020 contest, at this point?? Ofc human integrity is above everything but cancellation is not really justified, that would be a huge lack of respect for all the work done so far by all delegations, for the participating artists and especially for the ones that are working on :nl: to provide us three memorable evenings and for :nl: fans that have waited 44 years for this moment and we don't know if they will have this opportunity soon... The situation is undeniably critical at the moment but they don't need to cancel the whole thing...

Cancellation should be considered just in case of not being possible to have the contest until the end of 2020...
This is just my opinion of course...

Eurovision will be cancelled, I'm pretty sure
Is this a wish or a prediction? Because if it's a prediction, you're really wrong. It will be postponed at worst and we'll just wait and see to when. And if it's a wish, you're on a wrong forum.

It ain't a wish, I think it should also be postponed, but... well.

No need to be a negative nancy. We all know that cultural life not only in europe but worldwide will stand still for some weeks or months but it will not end. Eurovision was created out of ashes when our continent had to get themselves together after one of the biggest human catastrophes ever and it will rise like a phoenix again when we all came out of that little sleep we do in order to save our societies because its events like this that keep us together globally and we love and live them.

tbh if It can go ahead then it should, with all this doom and gloom it could be something light hearted and entertaining that lifts peoples spirits. Ofc restrictions need to be put in place, but it may well turn out to be easier to host it in May regardless. I just can't see a delay working out smoothly.

I hope that they do the postcards like 1999 I loved those postcards. They didn’t use the singers they had a cartoon style beginning which lead to a live action postcard. They were so good

A delay might not work smoothly but it's the best scenario we have at the moment tbh. Hosting without an audience / everyone from home sounds trash. I'd much rather have the contest in August-September. Besides, some countries are still in lockdown by the second half of April, I can't see this working at all.
