I'm so proud of what we did. I hope that this is just the beginning and that we will stay as good as we are now for many years to come. xcheer

Technically we are still undefeated xheat

Now to elaborate on why i thought our group is really hard.

Pot A: let's face it, any team from it is a top team... there's nothing we can do but to play defence and wait for a counter attack.
Pot B: Denmark is literally the only team we've never beaten
Pot D: Obviously directly qualifed teams are expected to be stronger than the play-off winners. And statistically we tend to draw with Serbia almost every match. So my thinking was that we would have to outdone ourselves to advance to the next round.

Kudos to :sl: to everything they have shown. Matjaž Kek is undoubtedly one of the best managers on this championship and he is a true master of this craft.

Šeško had a perfect chance to bring the best ever result to :sl: and sadly he didn't use it so then :pt: just used their collective expereince to win the penalty shootout. Nonetheless, fantastic tournament for :sl: .

:fr: is still far below the level needed for the top contender and the fact that they still didn't score "in-game" is quite shocking. We will see if things improve going forward.

Some matches of the round of 16 have been really crazy. Some Dark Horses almost won ..., the QF will be tough, but I think the outcome will be:

:en:
:es:
:pt:
:nl:

It's :en::nl::fr: for sure, and I would say :de: as the fourth semifinalist.

I hope my German fellows here are not too disappointed.

Don't forget where we are coming from:

The development in the last 6 month is quite incredible. I didn expect us to be so competitive again after years of misery and be able to dominate Spain for the biggest part of the match

Keep it up, guys! I look forward to the World Cup 2026 in North America (only the time shift frustrate me already xlmao )

I see the development positive as well. The only question is who will replace Kroos in the future? But I have faith in Nagelsmann. :)
But happy we have Youngsters as Musiala and Wirtz. They will give us happy moments in the future!

I still don't see Spain as the winner in the Final. I think it will be the Netherlands btw.

I think the most promising prospective is Aleksandar Pavlovic who's had his breakthrough season at FC Bayern last season and missed the Euro only due to infection. His playing style comes close to Kroos' style and he said multiple times he consider Kroos to be an example for him. And he is only 20 years old. Angelo Stiller is another youngster with great technical skillset and good vision.
In general, except for Musiala and Wirtz, we certainly lack players with superstar potential... After the succesful years under Löw we got careless about our youth promotion und thought it would be enough to keep the system "running". But football changes over the years. Recently we finally implemented some reformations on the early stages of child football but it will take some years until it comes to fruition.

And I agree with you... The Netherlands is now the team I support the most :) They are the most likeable of all the big nations
I predicted them to make the Semi Finals before the tournament and I am hopeful now they can make it to the final.
I am looking forward to their match tomorrow evening. I think this is going to be fun

Such a shame that :es: - :de: wasn't a final match. Two teams that showed the most and it is a shame that one had to be knocked out in 1/4 finals. I think :de: is on a good path to return to the old days of glory for sure.

As for the other match....no where near the intensity of the first. :fr: still didn't score (properly) and yet, they are in top 4 teams. We will see how it goes against :es: .

Now I expect :ch: and :nl: to be the other two teams to reach the semis. But it won't be easy for either of these teams. :en: is :en: and :tr: prepared perfectly against :at: . If they keep up like that, :nl: will have a hard time.

Well done :en: , I was rooting for you xclap xcheer

It could've gone both ways, but :en: deserved to win today. This was their best match so far. But for the semi, the bar needs to be even higher.
