alright, this is my turn:

HOPE

Wales vs Denmark -> Denmark
Italy vs Austria -> Italy (xgaahlove them both, but I put money on Italy prior to the tournament & Austria achieved their goal already by qualifying for the R16)

Netherlands vs Czech Republic -> Czech Republic

Belgium vs Portugal -> Belgium (would be lovely to see their 'golden generation' to win a championship)

Croatia vs Spain -> Croatia

France vs Switzerland -> Switzerland

England vs Germany -> guess what?

Sweden vs Ukraine -> Sweden xcheer

EXPRECTATIONS

Wales vs Denmark -> Denmark is on the roll now and will take an early lead and eventually win by 2:0 goals

Italy vs Austria -> most of the later champions have one tight and mediocre match in the knock-out stage, often against minor sides (Italy vs Australia in 2006, Spain bs Paraguay in 2010, Germany vs Algeria in 2014...), so I guess Italy (who will win the tournament) will struggle against Austria and win the match only by a late goal. 1-0.

Netherlands vs Czech Republic -> Netherlands. Result? no idea... 3:1, I guess.

Belgium vs Portugal -> somehow I believe this will be a little shocker. Portugal will once again manage to improve in the knock-out stage and kick out Belgium in extra time.

Croatia vs Spain -> Croatia is past their peak, Spain had their breakthrough against Slovakia. 3:0 for Spain

France vs Switzerland -> it will be a surprisingly hard job for France, after Switzerland takes an early lead. However, thank to their quality and experience France will turn it around and win by 2-1 goals.

England vs Germany -> I feel unable to predict this one, sorry. Germany fooled me more than once in this tournament. But right now I've got a bad feeling. So I guess they will fool me again and win.

Sweden vs Ukraine -> that one game that I suppose could end in a penalty shoot-out with Sweden winning it. Alternatively, Sweden takes a lead in the extra-time and then successfuly parks the bus.

My wishes:
PORTUGAL
ITALY
France
Croatia
Sweden-Ukraine - honestly, I don't care, neither of them plays beautifully in my opinion, however if I have to predict the result I'd say Sweden is better.
Germany-England - don't care as well, uninteresting teams and play styles for me
Czechia
Denmark

My prediction:
Portugal
Italy
France
Spain
Sweden
England
Netherlands
Denmark

I think it's pretty much an open road for England tbh, if they manage to get past Germany, but Germany already put a lot of effort to get through to the round of 16 so I don't know if they have power left. Ofc Netherlands is also dangerous, but England seems a bit stronger and with more momentum?
Also, first half teams will be drained, final matches are held in London...

Moving through Germany
My dream QF would be

Denmark
Italy
Netherlands
Belgium
Spain
France
Germany
Sweden

My prediction
Wales vs Denmark: Penalty shoot-out *
Italy vs Austria: 3-0
Netherlands vs Czechia: 4-1
Belgium vs Portugal: 2-0
Croatia vs Spain: Penalty shoot-out *
France vs Switzerland: 2-1
England vs Germany: Dunno the winner, but it will score 4 goals and it's opponent will score 2 or 3 goals also
Sweden vs Ukraine: Penalty shoot-out *

* A beer for everyone who can predict me the winner of these shoot-outs, I could flip a coin to make a decision, but why...

In view of the round of 16, the Italian national team will not kneel to join the "Black Lives Matter" movement

“Not kneeling does not mean not fighting racism.” Excellent words of which I am proud.

Politics should never enter football and just follow these "hypocritical and elitist fashions".

My hopes then:

Wales - Denmark ---> Denmark

Italy - Austria --> Italy

The Netherlands - Czech Republic --> The Netherlands

Belgium - Portugal --> Portugal

Croatia - Spain --> Croatia

France - Switzerland --> Switzerland

England - Germany --> Germany

Sweden - Ukraine --> Ukraine

And I won’t do predictions, because I’m not very good at it. :)

Phew. The TWO days without soccer are over.

I actually like all four teams today, so negatively speaking two will have to say goodbye, positively two of my faves will win. Maybe I am hoping a bit more for Denmark than Wales and I think they could make it. xheart

Ok, I will only list my wishes …

:wale: vs :dk: ——> :dk: it’d be iconic to see them going through.
:it: vs :at: ——> :it: It’s my favourite powerhouse in any competition.
:nl: vs :cz: ——> :nl: I like both teams, so this support is merely based on my experience with Ducth men :xo:
:be: vs :pt: ——> :be: They are the best team so far, and will be lovely to see them winning their first ever major tournament.
:hr: vs :es: ——> :es: I might be the only one cheering on them here. I admit Croatia has a more solid and experienced team, but still my hopes are with this young Spanish team.
:fr: vs :ch: ——> :fr: but, I wouldn’t mind Switzerland.
:en: vs :de: ——> :de: … even my English partner wants that.
:se: vs :ua: ——> :se: although Ukraine is one team to watch out, they have been just unlucky against NL and AT , but gonna support the Nordics in this one.

:hu: could have easily been the biggest surprise of the championship, they played really well in all three matches, but they were drawn in the wrong group. Full respect for everything they have shown. :hu: is definitely on the rise as a football nation. They have invested a lot in the infrastructure, they have several clubs that are ambitious and have quality squads, and their national team now also left a great impression. Full respect. I am happy that :de: survived, though, and I'm hoping that going forward we will see the :de: we know and love xcheer

Also glad to see :es: playing great against :sk: . I think :es: still hasn't shown everything and we will see more in these most important matches.

:pt: - :fr: was a spectacle to watch. Both teams played well and a draw was deserved based on what've seen on the field. Both teams are still among the highest contenders for the title.

:se: played their best match so far and the result was deserved. I am sad for :pl: though, but Lewandowski couldn't do everything alone. I think :pl: needs a different conception and I'm sure they will come back stronger next time.

Now the real fun begins, looking forward to it xcheer

Ukraine, of course
I think we should hire the Own Goal team. They collaborated with varying success with Germany, but we'll be able to lure him away. He can become one of 15 UAF vice presidents and take half of the prize money. Our Sepp Blatter's won't spend on youth football this year anyway. xcheer

It was obvious that Denmark would defeat Wales. I really like the Danish game: compactness in defense, but propensity for offensive play. Denmark can be a tough opponent for the Netherlands. Netherlands, which will win 100% against the Czech Republic (Forgive me HayashiM), can only count on the great quality of its individual players (their technique is superior to that of the Danes).
