The clever thing would be draw 2-2 and Spain and Croatia qualify. But I doubt we're gonna do that.

Well :dk: and :se: did that 8 years ago...

I know. But everyone knew they were gonna do that. That was just Scandinavian block voting in football. That's not the case with Spain and Croatia + I don't think our team are willing to do that.

But let's see. I wouldn't see it bad. These things happen in football and the most important is the result, and 2-2 is good for both.
If Italy doesn't qualify it's just because they didn't make their job in the previous two matches. Period ;)

It will. If Italy had won over Spain or Croatia, they wouldn't depend on others' results. It's not our fault ;)

Are you kidding me?If you award Croatia the qualification, it wont be Italy's fault. Italy might even win 7-0 over Ireland whatever. You know very well that Croatia is nowhere near to Spain, and not even Italy, so Italy being eleminated as a result of Spain giving away a 2-2 draw to Croatia would not be anything but a disgrace.

Bet Italy's fearing for a repeat of the notorious 2-2 draw between Denmark and Sweden in 2004.

Italy should be happy Spain and Croatia aren't neighbours. I still feel disgusting for how we deliberately let Sweden equalize in the last minutes causing Italy to leave the competition.

Indeed!

Anyways, I've seen stuff like this many times and not always neighbours. This happened this year in Spanish 2nd league between Celta and Córdoba and one is from the north and the other one, from the south. Celta needed a tie to return to first league and so Córdoba to qualify to play-offs. Result? 0-0, nobody gave a single shot

And this is just one of the 2923923230239 times this happened. I know you can get angry if the one damaged is your team (and my team lost the category once because of this), but it's understandable that two teams don't want to f*** their good work when they get what they want with just a draw ;)

TBH I wouldn't be surprised if Italy vs. Ireland ends as a draw. ;)
If you based your statement solely on big names, there are few big names in croatian squad, and I personally think we're as good as Italy. ;)

But still, It's theoretically possible that Croatia and Spain will play for draw, knowing that both of them will qualify if they do so. I hate when things like that happen, though. Anyone remember the Brazil-Portugal match from the previous World Cup?
