I hope for Croatia and Italy to qualify now that Ireland is almost definitely out, but I'm not quite sure how realistic it is. Croatia have Spain in their next game while Italy have Ireland, so as I see it Italy and Spain are faves to qualify right now.

Anything can happen though, Croatia proved tonight they can cause trouble to best teams in Europe. Italy was great in 1st half whereas 2nd half was terrible, they clearly thought they could just defend and then expect to win. For most of the part their strategy seemed to work, except on Croatia's goal (wth was Chiellini doing!? o_O).

My point, exactly. I was saying :it: and :es: are probably the ones who will qualify to the quarter-finals. Italy will beat Ireland  and Spain will probably beat Croatia for 1-0. However, Croatia only needs a draw to qualify. We'll see.

Now Croatia can stop Spain, although that game smells like a 2-2!! Maybe Trapatoni will give the game easily to the Italians, since they have to qualify.

I hope Ireland shows us something in last match. not just because it would be good for us (seriously), but because I don't want them to leave that way :(

What can I say? We were just outclassed. We looked like an average side. The goals Spain scored were too easy, AND THE 2ND GOAL WAS JUST AN UTTER DISGRACE. I never expected us to win any of the matches in our group, but I AT LEAST EXPECTED THEM TO PUT THE EFFORT IN. There was NO effort, NO passion, NO heart. Conceding goals in the first 3 minutes of every half? WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K IRELAND, WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K?!? Shay Given has been terrible in both our matches. He's not properly fit, so why was he picked?!? The defence was just a mess, Richard Dunne had a shocking match, and what retard thought it would be a good idea to play Robbie Keane as a lone striker?!?
One note of pride is the fans though, they were singing so loudly and passionately, I felt sorry for them. All those fans should be given their money back. They made me proud to be Irish xheart

For the rest of our group, I hope Croatia and Spain draw 2-2 to knock the Italians out.

wooooo I'm in love with my team again. Finally we did our best. However, we faced a very weak Ireland, so next match with Croatia will be a totally different story.

And thumbs up for the Irish supporters cheering till the end. There was a great atmosphere between both countries tonight :)

Assuming you think Italy cannot defeat Ireland for 3-0 (knocking the Croats out) which is quite possible in my eyes.

I'm not following you. If that was the case, :hr: goal difference would be +2 and :it: +3.

Yes, but results between the teams will be more important. Assuming Italy beat Ireland (which is very likely) and Croatia and Spain draw 2-2, the table will look like this:
Spain 5, Italy 5, Croatia 5, Ireland 0. The ES-HR-IT tiebreak will be solved by looking at the results of those 3 teams only. So it will be
Spain 2, Italy 2, Croatia 2. All have a goal difference of 0 since every match between them was a draw, so it goes to goals scored. Croatia and Spain both scored 3 (2 vs each other, 1 vs Italy), Italy have scored 2 (1 vs the other two teams) so they will be eliminated. The exact same thing happened to Italy in Euro 2004, when Sweden and Denmark drew 2-2 suspiciously, eliminating Italy.

they were just talking about it on tv.
if 3 teams have 5 points, only their games are taken into consideration. cause then Spain and Cro would have 1 goal more than Italy and Italy would go home.

I hope u understood this (crappy english) :D
