Wonder if it ever crossed your mind
That what we had was really unbelievable, unbeatable, a miracle
Why'd you have to go and mess it up?
Why'd you have to make what was unbreakable shakable, unsavable?
And now it's too late to cross your fingers
I'm wide awake and not a dreamer
Hate it, but it seems the dreams were never true
For a little while the fates were with us
Wonder why they had to turn against us
I could make a wish, but there is no use

I can feel
Even though I'm numb
The change to come will hurt someone
I can see
This time it isn't me
I might be the lucky one

I don't need a crystal ball to show me
Baby, it is plain that you don't know me
When it comes to you I'm better off alone (Better off alone)
I don't need a crystal ball to make me
Realize that if I stay you'll break me
Every sign is saying I should be gone
I should be gone

Thought I had a cloud over my head
It had to be my fault that it kept raining down
Until now, I figured out
That if I had the nerve to say goodbye
I could look for clearer skies up over head
Weather says sun instead

I don't need a crystal ball to show me
Baby, it is plain that you don't know me
When it comes to you I'm better off alone (Better off alone)
I don't need a crystal ball to make me
Realize that if I stay you'll break me
Every sign is saying I should be gone
I should be gone

I can feel (Even though I'm numb)
The change to come will hurt someone
I can see (I can feel)
This time it isn't me
I might be the lucky one

I don't need a crystal ball to show me
Baby, it is plain that you don't know me
When it comes to you I'm better off alone (Better off alone)
I don't need a crystal ball to make me
Realize that if I stay you'll break me
Every sign is saying I should be gone
I should be gone

You're joking, right? I guess you're not very familiar with the Estonian music scene, because some of those people are among the most successful musicians here. Ivo Linna's career, in particular, was decades long before we even participated in Eurovision the first time :ROFLMAO:

Come on dude, you get my point.

A propos Alabama Watchdog - I've read the lyrics around 4 times and I am still not sure I really get it, I find them quite ambiguous.

I think I can sympathize with it as a "rock-y expression of frustration about some of the current developments", I mean I could understand it as if it was sung by someone who is disappointed by possible over-politicized approach to covid, and who doesn't like seeing the world as binary, who doesn't think things are "left" or "right" only.

However that second verse, I really don't know how to understand it. "Girls plugged online" could point out to him being unhappy with being left to watching porn / electronic dolls devices, and "reverse or recovery" could perhaps be related to economy and not girls... But more probably than not, this indeed seems to be aimed at transgender people, and also, more probably than not, the guy is a covid denier or at least a play-down-er.

Pity, I kinda dig the sound.

I didn't like Egert on first listen, but it works for me after I've seen the video. So it's Koit or Egert for me.

Usually those who deny COVID get COVID. That part about pills - not even sure if it's transphobic, I just don't get it... it sounds like nonsense to me, I suspect they were on pills while writing the lyrics ;) Plugged online = I-net addiction. But why girls only?

I feel like this year there are lots of songs I have to listen to properly or more than once to give an accurate opinion on. So far Gram-of Fun and Andrei Zevakin & Pluuto are the main ones that stand out for me but I'll probably grow to like several others as well - say, Nika (though I liked her previous entry more), Koit Toome, Helen, Kadri Voorand and even Uku Suviste since his song is actually pretty notable this time. WIIRALT sound cool even though I'm not really into country (having very Estonian-folk-sounding lyrics makes it more interesting), and I quite like Rahel's song and especially the music video since I've dabbled in dancing myself (mostly hip-hop).

After seeing the previews I think I’m rooting for Uku this year. His last year’s song was garbage but this is much better and probably the best one out of this sorry lot. Come back already Sven and give us a proper pop song or someone like Elina Nechayeva with something special. The last few years of Eesti Laul have been awful.
