The real winner is Maybe-maybe.
Got 1st place both in public & jury.
Tanja got 2nd place in public and 4th in jury.
In the Super Final, the Russians supported Tanja and she won.

That's a load of rubbish. Russians don't really watch Estonian channels, plus one third of SHCBB is Russian.

Of course they do.

No, not really. Stop trying to turn it political. Russians have little to no impact on the voting. Estonians love Tanja and that's it.

Is it political to say that 1/4 of the population in Estonia, are Russians? Its a fact.
They just supported a girl from Russia. That's all.

Ι have never said she is not Estonian.
Don't get where is the problem,
She has Russian origin, and Russians who live in Estonia (they are many) supported her.
So simple.

May I just that add that it's shocking how that crappy Super Hot Cosmos Blues Band entry won the first round... I can't say I'm happy with the winner... but atleast we were saved from a real fiasco.

You are making it political by claiming Tanja won because of the Russians. Your claims are wrong. Local Russians do not watch Estonian channels. Tanja's ethnicity has nothing to do with her victory.

Well, he might have a point tbh... just look at Estonian televoting in ESC (totally ruled by the Russian minority/diaspora... just like in Latvia) xshrug

It's sorta like the Finno-Swedes voting for the Swedish acts in the Finnish selections... unfortunately some people are ethno-nationalists and couldn't care less about the entries but are just supporting acts based on ethnicity... I mean that's part of the issue with diaspora voting as a whole in Eurovision for instance xshrug

I'm not saying she won base on ethnicity, but for sure some of the Russian viewers (afterall Russians make up about 20% or so of the Estonian population) could have mobilized their voting just like they do in ESC xshrug

Yes, but would anyone in their right mind vote for a song they hate?

Not all diaspora vote for something they'd dislike, but unfortunately nationalist vote is well... nationalist (or politically motivated) and it's not based on the music really...

I mean we have many cases of "blind nationalist/diaspora voting" in ESC... it seems that some will vote regardless of how the entries sound xshrug

Of course they do.

How do you know?

Don't try to tell that Tanja won because of Russians. I voted for her 2 times in semi and many times in superfinal.
Btw Tanja got more votes than SHCBB in the final (with superfinal) and she won televoting in the semi.
Jury tried to push SHCBB to win, but it was a HUGE mistake, televoters usually ignore jury favourites and don't vote for them in superfinal so much.
Yes, Tanja wasn't first in the first round, but so wasn't Malcolm Lincoln.

That's quite stupid...
There are Russian channels in :ee:
And if Russians would suddenly control the votings, they would have put Russians in Eurovision every year, like Victoria (who couldn't speak a word of Estonian) or anyone else...

I am just wondering does all Russians have that digibox thing. For people who don't live in Estonia. Nowadays we must have one equipment to see the channels in Estonia.
Or it's built inside the newest TVs. So, I personally have that regular antenna, paying nothing. Only Russian thing that could be seen in those 5 channel are news. Everything else is in Estonian. So, all Russians must have that equipment to see any Russian channel. As far as I know, we don't have any Russian channel in Estonia that would spread for free. I don't think all Russians own that extra equipment that you should pay for every month.

But anyway... We love Tanja and I am just glad for every Russian vote =)

Russian viewers can obviously influence the outcome, they do each year in the ESC vote so why not locally?

You mix up two things, the people choosing acts and songs may not be Russians, but that doesn't stop voters to cast their votes though for what they are presented?

Then again, I'm not saying Tanja won because she's ethnically Russian, but I do think GRE has a point because we see these tendencies in Eurovision voting and we see it also in local voting (for instance in Finland).
