It's weird that those folks don't check those things upfront. Makes you wonder....

True that, I was thinking the same thing. Now they selected 20 songs and a number of them will be disqualified. Kind of silly.

Every contestant was required to include written confirmation that the song had not been presented before 1st September. I think that the jury should trust these confirmations, however there are some cheats who tried to bypass. With Laika Virgin it is only a matter of hours, with Janne it is quite clear that the song was online already in summer. I do not have any information that Mimicry has violated the rules.

Also I think it was confirmed that Elmayonesa is a resident of Estonia and won't be disqualified.

It seems that a song must be disqualified from the Estonian selection every year since the replacements entries tend to end up being the winners.

Janne Saar is disqualified and will be replaced by Tiiu Kiik with song called "Second Chance". No other competitors were disqualified.

^ sounds like a typical boy/b-band song.
Imho, Maagiline päev was miles better (thanks to Violina).

Yeah the new entry is nothing special, Maagiline Päev on the other hand deserved victory, such a pity it didn't make it.

The point is that Rolf Junior/Roosalu (he has some sort of identity crisis as he keeps switching his artist name between those 2) is simply lame. However Violina made it somewhat decentish last year.

Oh I loved the 2010 entry! Maybe Violina saved that one, but it was still great.

I want something in Estonian again, it's such a nice language and all the best Estonian entries were in native language.

hmmm, I hope the rest of them will satisfy my expectations. So far I like Victoria - but only her music, the lyrics turns me off.

From the current ones, i think that Sõpruse Puiestee has the highest chances. Elmayonesa probably has more public support, but would fail with juries.

I like Unemati by Meister and Mari, it's really out of the box. Sofia Rubina and Victoria's songs are pretty good too. I just have to hear the other half that aren't posted first to get a fairer judgement of all the songs.

It is three songs that stands out so far:

Baby Had You - Victoria
The Storm - Mimicry
Unemati - Meister ja Mari

Not as good as last year so far, but I really love the try of bringing new things from Estonia, which these three is an example of! :D

^ Totally agree, they tend to send "different" songs which are usually pretty good. It was just a shame that Malcolm Lincoln did not qualify last year. His song was a guilty pleasure sort of song for me
