I really felt sorry for Ines not winning in (was it 2006?) with Iseendale... that song was GREAT!

I want an entry in Estonian... Urban Symphony in 2009 were great and it was in native language..

I hope they continue with Eesti Laul, but that they chose the right winner though (Rolf Junior should have won this year for sure)... but the concept is great and I like it not being as predictable as the other pre-selections in Europe.

Just heard the latest song from Urban Symphony.. SKORPION..
Not a Eurovision material.. but the song is just mesmerising!! :D

And I read the lyrics, I am amazed of the beautiful lyrics.. :)

The jury (11 people) will choose finalists, televoters will choose the winner. 10 songs in each semi. 5 + 5 = 10 songs qualify to the final.
This year ERR fully paid all expenses.
The whole NF budget is 225 000€ + ESC participation fee 65 000€
source: Postimees

The deadline for submitting songs for the NF is December 13.
semi #1 = February 12
semi #2 = February 19
final = February 26

Why do you say "not Eurovision material"?

I heard the song and it is just as Eurovision material as any other. There is no such thing as "Eurovision material".

I bet alot of people would argue that "Rändajad" wasn't "Eurovision material" either and look how great of a choice it turned out to be? :D

2 semis is obviously a great choice, as both urban symphony and malcolm lincoln had 1 thing in common.... neither of them originally made into the Eesti Laul final and only got to the final by other songs being disqualified.

140 songs have been submitted (deadline passed today).
It will be up to an internal jury to select 20 entries and if the info is correct, they will be announced Friday.

There will be 2 semis with 10 songs each. It will be a 50/50 jury & televote split in the semis but 100% televote in the finals.

Actually only 135 songs qualified. Applications for 5 songs were incomplete/incorrect. They did not include confirmation that the submitted song had not been presented before September.

And the semifinalist will probably be announced on Thursday, not Friday.

Oh!!! I hope Rolf Junior's song is good haha. If Estonia sends that reggaeton song to Eurovision, I will laugh my a$$ off, and I hope they do, because that is the best song so far.

Apparently there will be a lot of disqualifications in the next few days from songs that break even the new September 1st rule. Three songs that break the September 1st rule are performed by Janne Saar, Mimicry and Laika Virgin. Also the song by Elmayonesa will be disqualified because the guy behind it is not a citizen of Estonia.

A minor correction. One needs to be a registered resident of Estonia, not a citizen in order to be able to take part of Eesti Laul. Elmayonesa is an Argentinian, and his residency status is being checked as we speak. Afaik, it's not completely sure yet that he will be disqualified.

Although, his disqualification wouldn't be a big loss anyway.
