Wow :sl: and :pl: and also a little bit :rs: are a surprise. I expected that having two neighbours in the SF would be an advantage for :rs: and :sl: but not enough for them. But hey I’m very happy for :sl: even though I don’t like their song this year.

Overall a pretty predictable lineup... I'd hoped that Finland wouldn't qualify and sort of expected Poland to qualify instead of Cyprus... But still no huge surprises to me

I'm really, really, REALLY happy that :pt: qualified. Grito is my winner of this year's Eurovision so I'm glad it got rewarded a place in the final and that I'll be able to vote for it.

The only one I'm semi-disappointed in that it didn't qualify is :pl:. I adore The Tower as a song but that performance was just not good. I feel for Luna.
I didn't expect Slovenia and Serbia to make it as their performances were unremarkable in my opinion, but I'm fine with them qualifying.

I absolutely hate :fi: and I don't want to think about it ever again but now I have to endure it once more on Saturday

So over the moon for Slovenia and Serbia making it through when it was looking so dicey.

My top 9 all qualified including my own country that's so crazy...

Only one I didn't get was Australia but I'm not too bothered by it since it was my 10th place.

I thought Ireland might be last.
We got Luxembourg, so nope, Ireland'd obviously not gonna be the "wow announce it last" country.

Ireland making it with a snippet in the replay which literally was pure noise proves once and for all that "casual viewers" who see the song for the first time are not decisive for the voting....

I like Poland's song (it is catchy) but I think it was a deserved NQ, the performance was doing too much and her vocals were too quiet.

Slovenia, Serbia, Portugal and IRELAND making it through is all a perfect fantasy for me - thank god it's not a fantasy anymore.

I'm very happy for Tali and Silia. Ukraine as well, but that was expected. Can't say I care too much for the rest songs. I knew that Ireland would qualify no matter how much I hated the song

Pleased with the result: my 3 main favourites made it to the final, Cyprus, Slovenia and Luxembourg xupxup

Great that Slovenia was not underrated for once in ESC!

Also Serbia and Portugal

As expected Ireland, Ukraine, Finland and Croatia made it. Only Ukraine of these is partially to my taste but they are popular among many.

I enjoyed this Semi 1. I see some think it was a bit "sterile" but I found it professional and quality. I also enjoyed all the 'throwbacks', giving us glimpses of ESC-history xcheer

Looking forward to Semi 2 on Thursday. Best of luck then, Gåte for Norway! xup

I cry a little for (almost) all NQs of the 1st semi. More about Poland and Moldova.
On the other hand - I wouldn't switch anyone from the qualified countries.
As I said in the beginning - tough Semi to choose a TOP 10. I had a top 13 :)
