:cz: came 5th in the televote in the semifinal, with Slovenia, Estonia, San Marino and Iceland beating us.

So... I don't wanna flatter ourselves and I'd still give all of our points to Norway in a heartbeat, but I guess the running order must have played at least some part in the miserable televote in the finals.

Where are you reading these results

Okay so the United Kingdom DID NOT deserve last place.

But maybe the BBC will learn from this. Change your damn style!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well you had the same formula with the jury winner, it seemed either the singer's charm or the flag colours costed you 226 points xsanta

Thank god this season is finally over. To me it felt dire, because I don't have a song I want to buy and listen to all the time, except for Telemoveis, which was killed off. I like many songs, but I don't love any.

I am starting to hate juries. Really. They can be much more political than public vote and I think that these experts are influenced by the odds. Majority of the viewership doesn't follow this competition so closely, so they are really less likely influenced by odds. I think that these odds and various Wiwibloggs importantly shape the opinion of professional juries. Wanna proof? Look at Sweden.

What I don't like is it feels like there's shenanigans going on whenever you come to a country that actually has a chance of winning and then points for other front runners are suspiciously absent. That's what feels the most shady to me.

I hope to God it doesnt happen that the favorite in the odds constantly wins, we will essentially know the winners months in advance.

It doesn't always happen. It didn't happen in 2014 (:am: :se:), 2016 (:ru:), 2017 (:it:) and last year (:cy:).

The ESC 2019 is all over now! Congratulations to the Netherlands for winning with 492 points. That's the lowest absolute score since the two-part voting system was introduced in 2016, but never mind, it was enough to win this time. Well done to Duncan Laurence for winning with the song "Arcade" in what must be one of the closest years I've ever known. That means the Netherlands have now won five times since their debut entry in the Contest's inaugural year 1956. The Netherlands - Winners 1957, 1959, 1969, 1975, 2019. 44 years gap between its two most recent wins (1975 - 2019).

Well done to all the 26 finalists that took part tonight. Commiserations to the United Kingdom, which finished last with just 16 points. Of those, 13 points were from the juries and 3 points were from the public vote (all of which were from Ireland). I'm not surprised though, I thought "Bigger Than Us" was one of the weakest songs tonight.

Altogether an excellent night of entertainment, and what a nail-biting voting sequence. The way in which the public vote totals were announced tonight was a vast improvement on the last three years. Sweden, which finished top of the jury vote, was last to receive its public vote points. When that moment arrived, it was a real nail-biting moment, for what seemed a long time, whilst waiting to see whether Sweden would get enough to pass the Netherlands and win. That moment was on a knife edge, down to the wire, unlike the last two years when the winner became obvious the moment the points for the second-placed country in the televote were announced. Anyway, I'm glad the Netherlands won, I think their "Arcade" was a better song than Sweden's "Too Late For Love".

Anyway I'm now dead tired, and in need of a good night's sleep. Goodnight.

What about Sweden? There are international jury groups in the Swedish qualification, so it's more or less given that Sweden will do well among the jury groups in a final too. But it leads to bland professionally produced, but not too exciting, songs being sent and without being exceptional the song will go unnoticed by the broad public.

I really don't care about your preselections. I never watched Melodifestivalen once. I was refering to a simple fact that Sweden already two years in a row was placed in top 3 by juries and killed by televote. This year not as bad as the last, but still, the gap is astounding. Sorry, juries are simply pissing me off more and more every year. Oh, and Russia killed by juries one more time.

Your hypothesis was that the juries get too influenced by the buzz and odds. I think it works in the opposite direction. That people in juries create buzz and influence odds. The large gap is not a proof of that, but a proof that Sweden takes the juries too seriously when selecting songs. I'm sure fans of Jon Henrik Fjällgren (another sami singer) were very happy to see Norway doing fine among viewers, since Jon got very few jury votes in the Swedish selection, much like Norway today.

Excuse me? Juries are not known for long long time. Only couple of weeks before ESC juries are being selected. When this year juries were selected, Netherlands, Russia and Sweden were already dominating betting odds for weeks. So, am I living in a parallel world or you are simply mistaken? Besides, JURIES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DISCUSS THEIR VOTING. And how could 205 people from 41 countries influece odds? Oh, come on. I am wasting my time with this argument.

Hint: Virginia is not my name
WOW! Eurovision is always such a rush haha. Here are my thoughts on the night (afternoon/evening for me)

:nl: Sooooo happy this won! I'm kinda surprised that it didn't win by much of a margin. At the end of the night, it was something the televote and jury could agree on and I don't think too many people will be too upset with this result

:ru: I told my parents that this would do well, but my mom was still surprised (and annoyed) when the televote was read out. I wonder how Sergey feels coming 3rd twice?

 I will forever treasure the moment they announced Norway's whopping televote number; Alexandra's reaction was precious. What a worthy televote winner!

:se: Maybe I've developed some anti-Sweden bias, but I just don't get what the juries are seeing in this entry that I don't see. On another note, my mom pointed out how weird it was to see one songwriter top the jury vote and be near the bottom with his two songs

:cz: I'm amazed that this one was a hit with juries and a flop with viewers. I thought for sure it would be the other way around. The guitarist seemed pretty confused too lol

:ee: Did anyone else notice the technical blooper? Right at the start of the first chorus we got a shot of a camera guy and a Victor-less bridge that clearly wasn't meant to be in the frame

:sm: San Marino's best result yet! Well deserved!

:gr: Well that did much worse than expected...wonder what went wrong exactly. I know my dad really didn't care for her tone, but I love it since it's so unique. Maybe juries and televoters didn't like her voice as much as the fandom did?

:es: I honestly feel bad for Spain. This song was really strong but they just can't get enough support to get out of the 20s range. I personally think their downfall this year was the staging. It took away from Miki's natural charisma and was just too much going on at once.

:il: I don't know how Belarus' jury votes were constructed, but I'm glad that they gave 12 points to Israel just for Kobi's reaction. It was so wholesome and warmed my heart, and I wasn't even much of a fan of their entry.

:de: Congrats on not coming last! (I swear I'm not trying to be passive aggressive)

:by: So I don't know exactly why juries marked this down, but my mom made a point I had never thought of before: she said she would have marked down for not being able to understand most of what Zena was saying. Do some jurors mark down for that? Was that one of Belarus' problems? Hhhmmm...

:uk: This did not deserve to come last. I'm not even a huge fan of the song and I'm baffled. I feel really bad for all the UK Eurofans; they were really proud of their entry and it really deserved to do so much better, especially with the juries. I send my love to all the Eurovision fanatics of the UK xheart
