Except for the pillars in the middle of the background (or whatever these are) - too dominant - I think it's a pretty good stage.

i find it boring, but let's wait how it looks on screen, because these 45 second snippets don't show a lot.

I also don't love the stage as much as I want to. These pillars in the middle are very disturbing. If they were transparent or translucent, it would be better. I totally hate their shape and inflexibility. Same mistake as in Vienna with those stelae, that did not look very good from the side due to their opaqueness.

These things ruin the impression of what could have been an otherwise perfect stage.

Well... it was the same stage designer. Florian Wieder - he is responsible for the stages in 2015 and 2018

And 2011, 2012 and 2017  So he did 5/8 stages in this decade

For the "pillars"/ribs/bones: They haven't moved so far, right? They always said they can move to create unique scenes but so far nobody used it or it's just broken and they failed
The last great stages we had were imo 2016 and 2014. Also this years main stage just looks like the one from last year, it actually has the same shape....

Florian "Copy Paste" Wieder

I have to say I'm actually kind of happy that we don't see the complete staging until the semi-finals. With the "LED ban", this year has become the year of props and elaborated stages with surprises and stuff, and I guess that, if you have previously seen the entire performance with all the props, holograms and atrezzo, the "effect" of the performance is kind of lost, isn't it?

For example, Benjamin Ingrosso has basically revealed all of his performance by showing the LEDs he's using, so I don't think he's going to have that wow effect in the semi final. On the other side, countries like Ukraine or Cyprus are hiding (as much as possible, because the press describes the stagings but we haven't seen them) some elements that may be determinant to achieve that surprise effect.

I don't know, I'm really curious about the stagings and a bit frustrated because the videos uploaded only show the dull parts of them, but I guess is the way to go and we will thank this later in the semi finals xheya.

.

Fans won't be impressed but everyone else will be interested. We shouldn't forget that fans are a little % of the viewers and those viewers discover everything on the day.

Yeah, you're right. But just by watching two seconds of Ingrosso's performance video you know the staging and the complete act, so the chances that non fans could have already seen the performance are higher (you just have to come across with the video in Youtube or whatever). I agree that it doesn't mean that people will not be interested, of course it's interesting, but I was just talking about that surprise factor. By the way, I am using Ingrosso as an example, but I could use any other act that has a linear (I'm not sure if this is the correct word) performance.

Anyway, the point was that this new rules about the rehearsals can benefit certain countries (the ones with surprising, theatrical performances) and be detrimental to others. Of course, it could not mean anything, but I'm positive that countries like Cyprus are going to take advantage of that wow factor

A couple of ESC artists have released new albums, have you listened to them yet? I heard Madame Monsieur's album on Spotify last week and absolutely loved it, I'm currently in the middle of listening to Saara's

I can't believe :il: and  are leading in the odds. Both of them would be such embarrassing winners reinforcing the image of Eurovision as an annual circus and showcase of bad taste instead of a genuine music competition. All the other favorites would be vastly superior winners and many of the outsiders as well.

I can already picture Netta's victory speech: "Music is not singing a boring ballad. Music is clucking like a chicken and doing the chicken dance! Bucka bucka bucka... Thank you."

Or Norway: "That's how you write a song!"

The odds are so random right now... It's a total 2011 year.... Remember when :ee: was high in the odds back then? In the end it finished 25th ore something like that... I really think anything could happen this year. :bg: still is the most reasonable contender for me but I somehow could also see them flopping... haha in the end I really don't know what to say about possible winners this year, basically everyone could do really well and really bad...

Btw After having seen todays rehearsal clips I really started missing the LED background... The stage is quite a mess, I can't see any clear concept
