The norwegian hosts were very efficient and professional, thumbs up from me. I don't necessarily think they had a whole lot of personality and I prefer "flawed" hosts who have a unique touch adding some flavor to the show. I personally love Anke Engelke but I don't know if her humor will be appreciated by Europe as I always found her humor to be very particular, so you either get it our you don't.

Stefan Raab is okay with me as well after all he was heavily involved and responsible for our victory and he is really funny. So I would approve of those two hosts.

I would not approve of Heidi Klum as she has the personality of a wet napkin and just because she is considered "hot" doesn't qualify her for being the host. What's up with that whole "the host should be hot" attitude.....don't get it...It's Eurovision and not a runway.

But that's just my opinion.

They were pretty UNcharismatic and incompetent actually  But hey! Each to their own! :)

Well... I want good-looking AND competent. I mean it's a show, why be afraid of good-looks? It's the entries that matters mostly anyways, let's have some good-looking hosts atleast to fill out the time space! :)
When did they go wrong? I can't remember any incidents where technology broke down and they stumbled through ad libbing (Greece 2006), or they accidentally insulted a jury spokesperson (UK 1998), or didn't know the winner (Italy 1991).

On the entertainment front, it has occurred to me that I may have seen more of the hosts than you, due to the lack of ad breaks in the UK. Did you see those green room segments? They always ended with the male host dressing up. I thought those were very well done.

This also seems quite a difficult thing to do in one take in a foreign language.

I thought the black woman was quite good-looking, but I recognise that people have different tastes in this department so it's worthless arguing over the matter. It's just not my main criterion for a host.

I haven't seen much of Stefan Raab and what I have seen was in German. He seems to be Mr Eurovision in Germany so with all the time he's put in he deserves a chance. Also, if he had anything to do with Lena's accent song, then I approve of his sense of humour.

@ Mickey

We don't have commercials on SVT so yes, I saw it all!

I guess people want different things from hosts. For me ESC is also a major extravagant show, to let your neighbor stand there and hosting with some half-lame jokes is not how I see Eurovision, but if people like that it's up to them.

As a matter of fact I'm not that fond of hosts trying to be funny, I want hosts that are charming, yet stick to the subject and just being "hosts" and yes, I think looks matters. The hosts are presenters, not the main subjects of the show but the show itself it's such a big show that I think it doesn't hurt if the hosts are a little good-looking and such.

It's such a western/northern European thing to be afraid of good-looking people, somehow some fugly person is considered more competent, but it really takes away the X in the factor of Eurovision.

I'm not saying that ugly people are better than attractive people at hosting Eurovision. If you have two competent hosts, you can by all means pick the pretty one. I just wouldn't call it a disaster if they're not supermodels.

I recall that in 2008 there were rumours about Serbia getting tennis hottie Ana Ivanovic to host. That would have been good only for comedy value. Eurovision is far too complicated a live show to hand to a novice.

Actually, I don't know why I'm asking for good hosts. Until recently, laughing at the bad ones was one of my favourite parts of the show. Perhaps the shock of having good ones in 2010 has changed my perspective.

Well I liked the Russian FINAL hosts (Alsou + what's his name). They were stable and good looking. But the semifinal hosts were just pure comedy

Well, I guess i'm not too much into the whole "trying to be comedy" hosts, I'd just prefer stable hosts more or less. I still believe the Norwegians weren't that good, especially the "older" lady.

The best hosts were Janna and Miko from Finland - hotties and brilliant hosts!!
Worst I felt were Serbian and Russian SF's - I couldn't understand them properly and their jokes were so cringy and embarrassing!!

I liked the Russian final ones but they looked like they were about to fall asleep most of the time... A bit of a lack of charisma... Alsou's so beautiful, though. :mrgeen:  The ones I like most of the past decade are probably 2007, 2005, maybe 2003, even a bigger maybe for 2004  and yeah the Russians did a good job in the final. I hope the 10s will offer more great hosts like 2010. ;)

I don't care if the hosts are hot or ugly as long as they do their job properly ;)
And I also liked the Norwegian hosts :D

My favorite were the hosts from 2007 - Janna and Miko :D

The worst hosts were the Russian ones in the semi (but the ones in the final were amazing on the other hand (not just because of Alsou  :p )), and the Turkish ones in 2004.

What about former Eurovision German winner Nicole? I think that she would do a great job as the hostess of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. The male host should be Thomas Hermanns

Anke Engelke is 99% sure.

She already hosted international shows in English. Also, she was raised in Montreal, so French is one of her 3 native tongues. Perfect Eurovision host for ESC in Germany.

I like Raab, I think he's a great entertainer! But I'd love it if Heidi Klum would host the contest too, that would be really cool :D
