The Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2023 will be taking place shortly (start time 19:00 GMT). The eight finalist songs, in order of performance, will be:

Song 1: Frederik Leopold – "Stuck on You"
Song 2: Eyjaa – "I Was Gonna Marry Him"
Song 3: Micky Skeel – "Glansbillede"
Song 4: Maia Maia – "Beautiful Bullshit"
Song 5: Nicklas Sonne – "Freedom"
Song 6: Mariyah LeBerg – "Human"
Song 7: Søren Torpegaard Lund – "Lige her"
Song 8: Reiley – "Breaking My Heart"

I've watched the preview videos, on YouTube, of those songs, in performance order, twice over this afternoon. The best I can say about those songs is okay; none of the above impressed me all that much. If the preview videos are anything to go by, I think whatever song wins tonight, Denmark will be lucky to qualify to the ESC Grand Final in May. Hopefully tonight's live performances will be better, taking staging and lighting effects into account. I'm hoping to be able to watch the DMGP 2023 Final live, online from the UK, if it's viewable outside Denmark.

Frederik is really cute. His song is nice but vocally he is weak. He also looks very nervous.

Song 1: Frederik Leopold – "Stuck on You"
Well I don't know what genre this is meant to be. I'm not keen on its introduction. It's not bad, but it doesn't do much for me. I like the way they had the blue lines on the background screens early on, and the orange light beams / spotty background effects later. There were even a few fireworks towards the end. All that provided much needed enhancement, but I'm mystified as to the change of colour scheme from blue to orange. If this wins tonight, Denmark can expect to be eliminated in the ESC Semi-Final.

Eyjaa were good. The song is nice. I don't like the dresses.

1. Eyjaa
2. Frederik

Beside :ie:, :dk: is probably the country that lost track in the clearest way possible during the past few years at Eurovision - unfortunately.

You can see this quite well when a performance like "I was gonna marry him" is one of the favourites to win....

Song 2: Eyjaa – "I Was Gonna Marry Him"
A beautiful, soothing ballad, sung by two ladies. liked the introduction, and the instrumental break provided the perfect bridge. The staging was quite subtle; the sort of thing a song of this style needs. I question the need for the flames right at the end; I think they were uncalled for in this style of song. However I liked the way in which the ladies finished off the song.
