Tiden er gået i stå

Du er kvinden, jeg еr manden
Hele gulvet er gået fra forstanden
La' os øve på hinanden

Tiden er gået i stå

Eurovision 1985 here we come, lmao. Ok this is not nearly as dreadful as I imagined it reading the comments (I imagined something as unbearable as That Sounds Good To Me which was equally dated albeit involuntarily while here everything is consciously done) and is semi-catchy , playful albeit it already gets tiring when it hits 2:00 mark for me ... I was really waiting for it to end. And I would rather have that blonde guy on the left singing as a lead methinks as that brunette guy voice leaves something to be desired. Or maybe it was not his best day? But well ... they won. I give it 3 /12.

But that style of music did win me over unsurprisingly. What surprised me though is that Danish did not sound ugly in this song whereas Danish as a language is for me like Orcs Speech from Mordor is to Middle-Earth, harsh and ugly usually.

I was an 80s boy... The 80s was MY decade! I still love 80s music, and I find it great that 80s vibes are doing well once again!
80s pop music still stands the test of time! BUT 80s schlager music on the other hand - did NOT pass the same test... and is definitely NOT something that gives me positive vibes or flashbacks. So Denmark - I'm sorry but this is a big NO from me. Unfortunately this sounds amateurish, just as the performance. Nothing charming, nothing fun or positively nostagic about this entry.
But I have managed to listen through the whole song twice, which in my book means 2 points. And yes, I'm being extra generous, you are after all our neighbours!

The Danish national final, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2021 ended at 20:45 GMT. Out of the eight finalists, the three that qualified for the super final were
Fyr & Flamme "Øve os på hinanden"
Chief 1 & Thomas Buttenschøn "Højt over skyerne"
Jean Michel "Beautiful"

Those were my top three on My Eurovision Scoreboard. I must admit, I had difficulty ranking those myself; I ended up putting Fyr & Flamme third, Chief 1 & Thomas Buttenschøn second and Jean Michel first. Anyway, I'm glad those all made it to the Super Final, as I thought they were collectively the best three. The winner was Fyr & Flamme "Øve os på hinanden". Although I ranked that third earlier in the show, I nonetheless like it; I think it's a lively, catchy entry.

So Fyr & Flamme will represent Denmark with the song "Øve os på hinanden" at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in May. Denmark will perform in the second half of the ESC Second Semi-Final on 20 May 2021. The United Kingdom votes in that semi-final, so I will be able to vote for Demark that evening if I want to. Well done to the three artists who made it as far as the Super Final tonight, and well done also to the other five finalists.

For those who missed my YouTube video, giving my views on the eight finalists before tonight's Danish national final, here's my link again:

This is my least favourite entry of the year so far. Sorry Denmark.

Edit: To add, I think this is the first time I've given a song a 0. I don't even think I've given a 1 before. I really, really hate this :ROFLMAO:

I must have been confused or mixed up. This song is not terrible at all. There is massive potential in the Televote. Definite qualifier.

for good old fashioned Denmark, this their least old fashioned song since 1995.

With Björkman out there’s a glimpse of hope Sweden will sing in Swedish before Finland decides to do it again.

Nah, you'd need to switch out the whole MF team and basically SVT as a whole for that to happen I'm afraid. We would first need to have a new government in Sweden, a government who dares to to do something about our public broadcaster.

But one can hope...

So Jean-Michel lost? What were the Danes busy doing tonight? That surprises me.

As far as the winner is concerned, I'm glad we'll hear Danish again in the contest, because it's been 84 years.

The song is purposefully throwback, but like VikingTiger said, schlager is dated and in this instance, it's not the good kind of "dated" imo. There's that one melodic line that reminds me of ABBA's "Dancing Queen" and I can't unhear it, which is annoying.

The singer sounds quite amateurish to me, although he does the job. The thing is I cannot figure out whether I should consider this whole effort offensive and throw it in the pits of hell or simply take it as a lighthearted failed attempt to sound vintage.

Either way, it's not very appealing to me. I'll give :3: points just because there are worse entries this year.

Tumblr, mostly.
I mean the danish song WOULD be good if the vibe established in the first minute or so was retained. Instead, it traps you inside a meandering mid tempo void, like every agoniiiiizing euro-nf pop flop. BUT IT HAS AN 80S SOUND SO IT MUST BE CURRENT -- bad taste danes.

But the guy behind the keyboard is cute and the main singer looks exactly like Örs Siklosi, so there's that at least.

I was actually disappointed about him. I think he was mainly off-key. He has been that in other live performances, but I expected him to have prepared himself for this task. Maybe he can't do better than this Friday night karaoke level.

Sort of iconic but in a bad way. The only thing I like about this is the retro vibe which I tend to enjoy in general. The rest, however...
:3: points for 🇩🇰 Denmark.

I fell asleep before all the selections started last night. I was totally expecting to come here and to see the most terrifying trio of words: Jean Michel Beautiful plastered at the top of the forum. That's not the case. Well done Denmark 🥳

Øve os på hinanden is doing the whole 80s throwback thing that's incredibly popular right now for reasons unknown to me, but what sets this song apart is that we've stepped into an actual time machine. There's nothing here that could tell us that this isn't a Eurovision song ripped straight from the mid 80s, and I actually quite like that about it. Gives it a certain charm and makes me believe these guys are doing this because they love this sort of music rather than are just jumping on a craze (I get this feeling too much from other artists *cough* Raylee). They've gone all out. I don't absolutely adore the song but I find it sweet. Boris has a point though about the mid tempo void they're floating in. 80s music works best when in all out whacky pop mode. I'd prefer it if the song had a bit more spark but it's still an enjoyable listen for me.

:7: points for now.

Without a shadow of a doubt the worst live vocals of anything selected so far. The orchestral version makes it like ten times better but they probably don't have time to put it on record before filming the backup - sad. Bonus points for not being Ben and Tan.

Oh my, Denmark. I was quite sure that Norway would be my last place this year, but you sure gave Norway run for its money. It's still dead last but not too far off from Denmark now
I feel like I've travelled 20 years back in the past, and that doesn't have to necessarily be bad, but it is in this case.
I give 1 point
+3 points for some interesting instrumentation between the verses
-2 for dreadful vocal. If you have dreadful song, at least do the minimal and sing it in tune, but this is just one big disaster.
1 point just because i am drunk and generous atm.
