Re: DANMARK - Denmark 2011

I don't think anything has to do with the language. Only once has a song in another language won Eurovision since 1988 (if I'm not mistaken), which was Serbia. She won because the song was very emotional, and she performed it really well. If you're going to sing in Danish (or any other language, for that matter), it has to be something extraordinary.

Anyways. I think it's time for Denmark to win, but since Sweden won one year before Denmark last time, it's for sure Sweden's time next year... Denmark can win in 2012 :geek:

1988-1991 were sung in French, Serbo-Croatian, Italian, Swedish... Then we had Norwegian in 1995, though not a lot of lyrics... 1998 was sung in Hebrew. Since then only Serbia won with Serbian in 2007.

Another new cool Danish electro-pop duo Electric Lady Lab that would be cool for Eurovision!

Goddag! I hope that Denmark will get rid of the ABBA-like tunes from their national selection. I want something new, fresh but still with Scandinavian "taste". :D

Re: DANMARK - Denmark 2011

Denmark hasn't had "ABBA-like tunes" in their NF for quite some years now. Perhaps the songs could be a bit more contemporary but overall they have had nice selections the past two years with a variety of styles.

Re: DANMARK - Denmark 2011

Finally an update from Denmark

Get ready for an announcement from the broadcaster on February 3rd where we will find out who the 10 lucky acts are who were chosen to perform in the annual NF show which has become quite popular in Denmark.

Denmark have really sent GENERIC boring entries for the past whatever years! I hope for something more contemporary from Denmark finally! Something less safe.

What would Danish ethno sound like? Honestly I got no clue and still it's my neighbor country! :/

Agree on that.

Valravn would be my suggestion. They make some cool music, lot of their lyrics are in Faroese though so I dunno if they would count as Danish.

Anyway, the presentation of the artists for DMGP 2011 will take place on thursday so by then we will know whether DMGP 2011 will step out of the boredom or not. Sukkerchok is rumoured one of the participants so I guess you shouldn't expect too much.

Damn, I'd so wish we'd get a more representative line-up of our music industry right now than what we've seen so far in our NF's.

Actually I kinda like Sukkerchok, they are a kind of 'guilty pleasure band'. I think they were the best in the past selections to be honest, but that may say more abot the rest of the competition than Sukkerchok.

Denmark have alot of great contemporary music, but in MGP we never see these :(

Re: DANMARK - Denmark 2011

Just one and a half hour till the press conference where we will know the participants of DMGP 2011.

The songs will come out in public the day before the show as usual.

The stage is rumoured to be the most expensive in the history of DMGP (and even more spectacular than the one in 2010) so I'm really looking forward to this.

Just hoping for the music to be able to live up to this.

The list of participants has been announced, I seriously only know who Jenny Berggren is (ex- Ace of Base member). As for the rest; totally unknown to me.

That would be great, unfortunately Denmark like unknown names it seems.

The list of participants in MGP 2011:

Sine Vig Kjærgaard "You'll Get Me Through"
Lee Hutton "Hollywood Girl"
Le Freak "25 Hours a Day"
Kat & Justin Hopkins "Black And Blue"
Christopher Brandt "Emma"
A Friend in London "New Tomorrow"
Jeffrey "Drømmen"
Anna Noa "Sleepless"
Stine Kinck "Hvad Hjertet Lever Af"
Jenny Berggren (ex- Ace of Base) "Let Your Heart Be Mine"

::

Only 2 songs in native language (lame)
Half the tracks involving Swedish writers (lame)
Only one known name (that I know about atleast) (lame)

lol

Good luck neighbors!

Yeah, Jenny Berggren is quite a scoop. I easily imagine her in Düsseldorff but let's see. Plus, 12 points from Sweden should be ensured.

Probably, but her comeback solo single flopped though, but most probably

Anyways, since you are Danish, are the other names somewhat known?

I'm kinda disappointed seeing G:son involved in two of the tracks even, and where's rumored Hej Matematik and Sukkerchok??
