Great job, Croatia. This is the first time since, I don't know when, that we have a no-vanilla song from Croatia. It is irrelevant to me how this will finish, I am happy to see this creates discussions. For those of you claiming this should be disqualified just because it is not comfortable for your eyes and ears: please, relax. Also, how suddenly a song that discusses some political issues is a problem? We have had these songs before although with completely different esthetics and sounds. I am also glad Croatia is finally sending an established act known for a long time.

Yes, the song (and the band itself) is controversial, but this band has been known for such stuff and they will not change for Euro fans.

On Dora, it was super boring and I hope Let 3 motivates HRT and singers/bands to participate, it is just a non-event year after year. I don't expect all crazy stuff to be there, but it was almost impossible to pay attention of any of the acts we saw last night so I am not surprised both juries and televote voted for this.

Croatia showed its true colours finally 🤣

Quick confession: I watched some Netflix yesterday instead of DORA and I only looked up all the performances today.

But let me just say: I already mentally checked out long ago when it comes to having any hopes that my country will achieve anything at Eurovision.

Which is why I am not phased that yesterday´s production was so tame and full of these same old, tired and slow camera shots and cliques when it comes to performances.
Heck, even some certain parts of LET 3´s performance left me wanting for more dynamic camera shots. Clearly too challenging for those camera folks who trip and fall like apples from trees (see the winner performance).

And speaking of LET 3 winning............well duh! xshrug

I will not delude myself into thinking that they can achieve anything in Liverpool. I am not hopeful about their chances at all.

But from my POV, the televote and the jury choosing them to win this NF was a no brainer decision.

People are welcome to be repulsed by them as much as they like, but there is NO WAY that anybody can convince me that there was any better alternative than them in this entire dreadful ass selection.

They gave us a circus act filled with colorful epilepsy that a handful of people will like and massive amount of people will dislike.

But what did the other 17 competitors give us? A one big nothing!

Seems like your DQ-urge against "political" entries is highly selective because this is a "political" entry allright. Double standards alert xmetal

We discussed at lengths why one can be seen as problematic based on what is being said in the song, and you even said it's okay to criticise. And when one song is pretty obvious and straight-forward in its meaning, it's apparently "double standards" to like it? Bruh... stay toxic.

Oh wow, what's stranger, the staging or the actual song? Assuming they keep the staging as it is, i'm not dead sure this will get all that many televotes. Remember "Euro Neuro" and "Push the Button", similar songs and subject, and they flopped. It'll depend on if they can manage to promote the entry well, get the "momentum" necessary for songs like this to get televotes. Juries.... might not completely hate it, they make surprising choices sometimes.

Overall, it's definitely gonna get people talking but don't expect that to mean much in terms of success, but i'm low key hoping it will.

@PollyWantsACracker can you clarify the tractor reference for me? Is it a dig at Serbia during the 90s?

No!!!! That's what Serbian nationalist pro-Russia media outlets claim trying to disqualify Croatia.

It's a reference to a tractor that Lukashenko gave to Putin last year for his 70th birthday.

BBC article https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-63176124.amp

As this tractor trademark is "Belarus" when they sing:

MAMA BOUGHT A TRACTOR

And Mama ŠČ is Russia

The real meaning is

RUSSIA BOUGHT BELARUS

We all know that Belarus is practically annexed by Russia since February 2022 when they signed the agreement under which Russia redeployed its nuclear missiles to Belarus and is "a guarantor of its sovereignty"

The Crocodile Psychopath phrase is a literal citation of Boris Johnson's statement about Putin.

Furthermore, some Let 3 members are literally ethnic Serbs.

They wrote this song dedicated to Belgrade after war:

"Belgrade, Belgrade, you give your love selflessly
Belgrade, Belgrade, Belgrade, Belgrade, everyone wants your hug and love
Belgrade, Belgrade, everyone loves your singing streets
Belgrade, Belgrade with us and you live in us
You live with us and in us
You live with us and in us"

They regularly perform in Serbia and have a huge fan base there.

They are also despised in Croatia by its right-wingers for being "communists" and for their fight against homophobia!

PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR SERBIAN RADICAL PRO-RUSSIAN PROPAGANDA THAT'S BEEN SPREADING FAKES IN ORDER TO DISQUALIFY CROATIA!

CROATIA HAS CHOSEN A TRUE EUROPEAN MESSAGE OF CONDEMNING TYRANNY, WAR AND ANTI-DEMOCRATIC MENTHALITY, AMIDST A WAR IN EUROPE, AND DESERVES SOME RESPECT AT LEAST FOR SHOWING DEVOTION TO TRUE EUROPEAN VALUES.
