Tried to fix the broken pieces, now I'm leaving
But you made it loud and clear I’m not enough
Tried to fool me more than once to keep me dreaming
'Cause you knew the truth would tear us apart

If you pull me down then I'll come around
And rise up to come show you who I am
I feel fire inside, my heart’s desire
I'm breaking free from you

Tick-tock, watch the days go
I'm losing track of time
Lost in your playzone
Don't overcomplicate
Now we're in warzone
You're screaming, "Oh no, oh no, oh no"

Tick-tock, I'll take you dancing
In time wе might break
You think you're fancy
I play those gamеs my way and you’ll be beggin’
"Please baby, don't go, don’t go, don't go"

I hear those voices from far away
They help me to escape (Escape)
I found myself and I'm finally free from
Your bad love in every strength

Tick-tock, watch the days go
I'm losing track of time
Lost in your playzone
Don’t overcomplicate
Now we're in warzone
You're screaming, "Oh no, oh no, oh no"

Dancin', dancin'
Think you, think you fancy
Tick-tock
Don't go, don't go, don't go

I hear those voices from far away
They help me to escape (Escape)
I found myself and I'm finally free from
Your bad love in every strength

Tick-tock, vrijeme curi, gdje si više
Usne grizem, sama jedva dišem
Tick-tock vrijeme juri ne mogu više
Oh no, oh no

Tick-tock, I'll take you dancing
In time we might break
You think you're fancy
I play those games my way and you'll be beggin'
"Please baby, don't go, don't go, don't go"

Dancin', dancin'
Think you, think you fancy
Tick-tock
Don't go, don't go, don't go

Eh...

It happened like that this time, but I usually don´t use the "battle of the songs in same genre" theory when predicting results, as I really do not think that it is somehow impossible for all the songs of the same genre to make it through.
I think this always happens when songs of similar genres aiming for the same public are together in a semi though, the target audience will just naturally shift towards the stronger package and the weakest ones will get a much lower percentage of the televotes (and jury points) especially when there's so many similar songs and so close together in the running order, like tonight
I think it's an explanation for Finland missing out on the SF1 Q in 2017, for example, Portugal probably swept their votes away

Hmm I believe someone like Romania was 11th, and the fallen bop (aka Croatia) was like 12th/13th overall. Probably not far away from qualification points-wise anyway, mind you
And I do think that Sweden could have been 10th and the danger zone bop (Israel or Azerbaijan in my mind) was 9th, but we'll see I guess

Yeah, I mean right now it's just speculations

I think Romania did not come close to Q, probably a lot of points of behind it. I suspect that :hr: was tanked by the juries and 6th-9th in the televote alone and it was very tight overall. I think she was overshadowed by :il: especially vocally. Eden Alene's staging was colour wise very similar and featured male dancers.'Tick-Tock' came across as not as good in a direct comparison sadly.

That having said I enjoyed Croatia a lot. More deserving than Sweden or Norway but I kinda considered them shoe-in for various reasons.

It felt very pedestrian to me and fell completely flat. I could tell from their live performances that Croatia and Romania are goners. No charisma, basic staging, robocop dancers, straight into love meets lion of love meets sugar. That was a big Oh No Oh No Oh NOOOO from me.

and the ex YU struggle continues. 100% NQ rate so far.

I definitely want us in final, but I wouldn´t use Israel as the one to swap us with.
Agreed, I'd use Norway, the epitome of Scandi generic.
That said, I knew the chances of qualifications were very slim as soon as they announced Israel.

I don't know if it was a battle between Croatia and Israel. I for my part liked Albina way more, her song was one of the biggest growers for me over the past weeks. Israel's song didn't do it for me at all. But on the other hand, I didn't like Croatia staging, it didn't click with me and I was sure that Croatia wouldn't Q, no matter how much I wished it. :(

Horrible song, standard performance, there was no way this was going through. Competition was fierce and even Israel, not being the greatest song or performance under the sun for the last 20 years, was a bit more musical and a tad more fun than Croatia.
Non qualification totally deserved.

Loved the song but during the semi it fell flat, and failed to make a lasting impression. Not really surprised it didn't qualify in the end, but I feel bad for Croatia. You could see that they actually made an effort for this one.

i think the dance pop songs sung by females ate each other up. and from malta, cyprus, israel, azerbaijan and croatia (excluding australia because i has a very different approach) this somehow gave the least vibe and her vocals were not the best either tbh. but she and her team did a great job, i actually thought it would qualify

Yes, too many similar acts and Croatia was not the best among those similar, but still it was quite good. I am happy they are satisfied so I am sure they will not lose the interest to do well hopefully next year.

Meh.

Ok, so it wasn’t brilliant but so weren’t many others that have qualified.
And that’s the entire story.

Good job, although still the weaker bop imo so I'm not fully surprised it didn't qualify...

However this deserved to qualify much more than Sweden and Norway so I'm a bit sad for Croatia...
True, I've always considered Croatian song a bop but homemade.
Norway is cheesy but in a eurovision-y way and I could see him qualifying not to mention Norway is Scandinavia.

I am disappointed. I am one of the few that believe all 5 female uptempos (Azerbaijan, Croatia, Cyprus, Israel and Malta) will qualify.
Croatia is my no. 4 this year and it's one of the rare occasions that I have a Croatian entry so high up.
Albina did what she could, the staging and performance is really polished. But I got a feeling like Cyprus, it came a little "cold" despite Albina looking her best. I would happily swapped Croatia with Norway and Sweden (even though I like "Voices" as a song but not the performance since it is lackluster).

All the people I watched ESC with last night loved this song, it was in their top 3, but it was in my bottom 5. Albina is really beautiful IMO, but the song is so late 1990s ESC, old-fashioned but in a bad way, so I wasn't shocked it failed. I really love Croatia and its music and people, and it deserved a better song IMO. Albina could have done much better as well. ;)

I don't think I can abide by people calling this the weaker bop.

Not a single line in this years Eurovision has infiltrated my mind as frequently as "Tick Tock take you dancing".

This song was ridiculously catchy.

It's just different taste xshrug

I mean it is catchy, but I find it very basic and simplistic, almost a bit like a children rhyme dressed in a standard pop beat.

With that said, it should have qualified and was better than some of the qualifiers, it's not a bad song but yeah a bit too basic and stiff (at least for me and I think that's how it came across in the show too).
