Re: CROATIA 2016

I didn't think I would've ever said a things like this, but at the moment the level of the entries for ESC 2016 is so bad that even Croatia stands a chance of qualifying. I wonder why HRT hasn't officially confirmed Nina yet. It's always like this, when male singers are rumoured to participate in ESC, they are always immediately confirmed, when it's female singers, it's never true. I hope for a good Croatian entry even if it won't be Nina.

Indeed. As it stands, 42 of the entries are just three minutes of silence!

Re: CROATIA 2016

Croatian fans at Eurovision:

1993 - 2001 - Hoping for TOP 10, TOP 5 or maybe victory

2002 - 2006 - Still hoping to get back in TOP 10

2007 - 2013 - Hoping to reach the final (having big expectations from Femminem tho)

2014 - onwards - Hoping to even participate

Many will find this comical. I find this sad.

And I don´t know whether it is our failures and decrease in popularity, or maybe our absence, but I kinda stopped caring.
If we are really back, that´s really cool, but at the same time I´m not feeling that same amount of interest and excitement that I would have 5 - 7 years ago.
I am just not as hyped as before. If we were to fail once again or pull out, it woudn´t make any impact on me.

It might be the selection process which is weak or "wretched" (=> It's a very strong word, so I may be wrong actually), I don't know whether HRT's directors are blind or simply don't know how to deal with the ESC.
About your small timeline, I totally agree with you on this point that the interest for Croatia has literaly fallen year after year, and that's very sad to be (it refers to Croatian people) constantly under the pressure of this kind of speech : "OMFG HRT WILL RENEW WITH THE CONTEST OR NOT ? F****ING MEN & WOMEN, THEY CAN'T DECIDE FOR US !!!".

I completely understand you and I know how the ESC is important for you, Croatian people, because you're worthy than us, French people, to participate and qualify for the Grand Final instead of some countries which buy their votes each year !!!

Then, the reason of the return is as similar as Czech return too : To prove to Europe that you can easily qualify with a beautiful song, and as they said : HOPE NEVER DIES CROATIA !

Re: CROATIA 2016

Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it!

See, the thing is, I´m still having fun watching the contest. From objective point of view, I can say that ESC 2015 was one of the best ones in the modern era.

The feeling of fun and joy is there. But, what is lacking is that feeling of competitive excitement (like when you play against someone in a tournament that is a huge broadcasted event). Its that feeling of rooting for your country in finals. Gone more than 10 years ago.

I am not even going to comment at what is happening at HRT, because I just can´t grasp what the actual deal is, or why do they loathe the contest so much.
Overall, its not the bad scores that I am sour at. They are pretty much expected. I´m sour at two things: Decisions that HRT makes when selecting our entry, and how much have those bad scores killed my excitement and hype.

I´m not worried about future because I know that things change overtime. Old folks go, new ones step up. Fans just need to be willing to wait a little longer.

Eurovision's fever in Croatia isn't here right ?
I hope you'll be able to reach the final again, and manage to score a top 5 or a top 15 at least !
Imo, Croatia people are more eager to join & watch the contest than French people.
Although I'm used to watching the contest every year since 2013, I think there will be a giant lack of interest in France when it concerns our results in Eurovision.
However, I'm sure that we'll succeed to be in the top 15 somehow get out of the F***NG bottom 5 whom France apparently has been loving for scores of years now.

Croatia and France has some things in common when we're talking about ESC though...

EDIT : Teens & Adults from our times now (from 10's to 28's I'd say) don't give any attention to this contest, that seems unfair sometimes but... They're seldom interested in this... like me :)

Its definitely true about interest decrease. I remember my colleagues back in elementary school talking about ESC and knowing more about it than I do. Now its vice versa, except that they don´t even talk about it anymore (they don´t even watch it).

Never degrade yourself. Because I really don´t think that any country at ESC is more worthy than another one.

Sorry but that's the case, unless we got a nice result in Stockholm, I fear French HoD will totally give up. :/

Don't worry we have/had a similar situation for a time now the only good thing thing is that we are used to doing badly( Macedonia was the only country that didn't produce a Yugoslav entry ) so there was never a competitive spirit to begin with however I have noticed that among the youth interest considerably rises when we qualify (I do remember Macedonia was Eurovision crazy in 2012) so if Croatia manages to qualify the interest may rise again like it did here.

True. I guess the best thing would be to wait patiently and turn off the hype, until there is really a reason for it (I think this goes for all countries that are not very successful at ESC lately).

The reasons of this decreasing lack of interest are often worthy, whichever they are.
