France or Hungary would be great winners.

These countries were the real winners for me in these years, and it's a shame they have not won yet:
:rs: + :me: = 2004 & 2005 ( I know Serbia has won, but not Montenegro so . .)
:ba: = 2006
:mk: = 2007
:cy: = 2011 - criminally underrated I can not believe it!

Hopefully in the near future they will all have victory (if Montenegro ever returns that is)

The only country that has never won and has been participating since the 60s is Portugal. They deserve to win in the near future. I don't care about the victory of countries who are participating for 5 years or so, I mean look at Ukraine, they won on the 2nd try.

I say this every year, I want Portugal to win :)

We can have it in Dragão stadium or in Luz stadium. Those can definitely fit more than 15 people even after they put the stage and stuff. I just wanna see how Portugal hosts a contest like this!

Well, they did a great job hosting EURO 2004. Hosting ESC would be a piece of cake for them.

Even this year? That song - if you can call it that, was dreadful.

But I also feel sorry for Portugal. It's incredible they have never won, after competing 45 times.

I thought they had a very good candidate for it in 1980. Um grande, grande amor deserved a better place than 7th.

I think :mt: & :ro:, & :is: are the 3 countries which have the best entries in history of eurovision without a victory:p.

At some point :hr: was such an amazing esc country but it has lost quality since a few years, :ba: is rising and may win someday.

:cy: and :pt: have some great entries but much more terrible or average ones to really deserve a victory but so was Finland before 2006 and i wouldn't mind to see them winning but i'd rather see :fr: or :es: winning again.

Now Hungary had two wonderful entries in 2005 & 2007 and a good one in 2011 so if they keep send good songs things are likely to go their way one day.

I agree about Malta, I really like some of their songs thoughout the history.

Especially their entry in 1992 with Mary Spiteri and Little Child. It's such a beautiful song. Ireland and United Kingdom had the best songs that year though.

And lately Chiara has done a magnificiant effort in the contest. She deserved to win in 2005. What a voice!

I'd like to see every country win :D
But my favourite ESC countries that have never won are :ro: :pt: :ge: and :md: so it would be nice to see at least one of them win in the next 5 years :)

if Moldova wins,Romania will host....I never thought of that omg!

Can that be done though? What if a country can't host the contest though? I'd think the right to host would then go to the runner up????? I don't think a buddy system would sit well with people!

In the olden days, it would usually be the BBC or sometimes the Dutch broadcaster that took over from countries not willing to organise the Contest (mainly small states like Monaco or Luxembourg). So it's not unheard of.

But if, say, Moldova wins - and cannot finance the Contest - and Russia is second, maybe Russia will pressure the EBU to organise it.

As for the subject at hand, I join other posters and wish Portugal all the best for a first Eurovision win. They deserve it, fingers crossed!

There is an agreement betwen EBU and TRM on that! But it can be :ro: or :ua:! And I am sure that the same agreement goes that in case :sm: wins then :it: would host....
