As I was listening to the song I was thinking "Connor is going to LOVE this"xheat:lol: It's so up your street. I think Bulgaria can possibly win as well.

You were so right xheat That Bulgarian chorus in particular is just so... me xrofl

Upon listening to this it ocurred to me that eurovision has quite suddenly become modern. It's been slowly building, but always with too many being dragged behind. Now I think Austria and Denmark are the only odd ones out. Forgive me some other old bat I can't recall. I wonder if Mans and Sweden should be accounted for this and what would have happened should Italy have got away with it instead, god forbid.

That said, this is nice but not special. Can see it getting lost.

OK, so I overreacted yesterday due to expecting a pop-rock song, but this is actually pretty good. They need to ditch the chipmunk stuff though. 7 points. Still can't hold a candle to Na Inat.

Still there's a lot of dated stuff i hope we'll get rid of the years to come. Romania, Poland, San Marino, Moldova, Macedonia - extremely old fashioned. Russia is too, but with a slightly more modern instrumentation, which doesn't help it too much. Azerbaijan is dated in chorus. UK, Ireland and Lithuania are in the same league with Denmark.

Ukraine, Malta, Armenia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, Australia, France, Sweden bring current vibes which is just amazing!
Netherlands, Belgium, Georgia, Iceland, Bosnia, Greece, Estonia, Croatia, Spain, Finland, Latvia bring something different from "awesome retro stylization" to "very local evergreen ethnic" and "league of their own"

And applause for the bold one!

I think this is fantastic, and definitely the tool to bring Bulgaria's second qualification!! Is it a subtle dig at places where love is a crime though, or near enough to a crime (hello Russia)? I've always felt my gaydar go off a little bit around Poli Genova...

Wow, you were exhaustive about it :D

i'm sure you are probably right, I would even agree with you on most cases if I meant to go just as deep. Still, there's dated and dated as there's current and current, meaning eurovison current isn't exactly the same as real life current. You see, the way I look at it, there's a kind of dated one turns a blind eye to when one's prawling on eurovision land, and i'm quite ready to turn that eye on the UK and Ireland, among others. Come on, they're kind of sweet, one hums them easily. Harmlessly. San Marino doesn't count and no one will notice Poland or whatever.

No. Denmark and Austria are special and mercifully isolated. They're evil-ESC. Horror material from gone bye eras. They should be pointed to and laughed at. They should be made to feel ashamed.

Not sure I understood the bold one though? Or if i'd like to?

Just shut up already, ffs. "Loin d'ici" is not your typical song that exists only inside the Eurovision-bubble.... It's a real song, a song that already existed on its own, it was part of Zoë's album and the Austrian singer had to edit to fit it into the 3 minutes rule. This is the scientific proof that it's not a cliché ESC-song, it's not a song composed with Eurovision in mind. It's one of the best songs this year.

Well, excuse me for liking memorable and original songs that are not tailor-made for the contest.

The chipmunk stuff is what I like best in it

Didn't expect this sing is still growing on me even more, before I only gave it 17th place because I just couldn't place it any higher in this strong year.

But then I thought:
How is this not better then :dk: :es: :ie: :lv: :ee: so......... BAM! 12th place it is , it's even crawling towards my top 10 now.

And for the chipmunk criticism, I love it..........haters gonna hate because they want to see the exact same song from Poli.
I personally though Na Inat was a bit too Eurovisiony, but this is modern, stronger without being overly dramatic. I can also appreciate the short part in Bulgarian.

Haters gonna hate is such a shitty excuse. I expected something deeper from her, but I can't deny this is actually a good song, just took some getting used to it. But I will continue to hate that chipmunk shit until the end of time. It sounds like it belongs in JESC.

I just think it's a fun thing to say, I see very little "hate" on this song. The main criticism is that it's not the same style as Na Inat, which I also really liked, but let's not pretend that that song was soo deep either. I actually think 95% of the songs of Eurovision are not that deep.

To each his own, I usually dislike chipmunk voices too, but here it's done very well in my opinion. Could understand why other people don't like it though.
