I agree that most of the songs should be in national languages, but if the artists want to sing in English then let them, as long as the song is good. They should go with what suits the song better I guess.

I support the rule of bringing back the entries in their national languages, it makes me puke when the singer prefers english and he/she doesnt know how to speak a word of it and because of that the entries seem kinda fake because they dont put heart at all.

In France people are for the language rule. It's a big issue...

Anyway, I'm sure that would it be adopted Azerbaijan would adopt English as a 2nd official language to be able to compete in English ! xrofl2

I totally believe that, even though their singers dont know how to speak english

You're too funny xrofl2

Maybe the same would happen in Belarus?!. Lukashenko declares English as an official language *big success*

I would love to see countries singing in their own languages again, but think of the casual viewers - would they really enjoy listening to 25 songs, most of which they don't have a clue what they're singing about?

Could be but there's more of a chance they understand a song in English than a song in Danish or Icelandic!

The European public did so for four decades when the language rule was in force.

But wasn't it during the juries' haydays?

With televoting surely most English-language songs benefited most? (Not going into statistics and numbers here)

First of all I believe that every country should sing in its language.
Secondly juries have to vote and non english songs (:sm: was 10th this year)
Finally its boring if all the songs are in english...

I believe that every country should have the chance to choose whatever language it wants as it is now.

As I suggested in some other thread: An official language of the country has to be used at least once per four years. A lot of countries already meet that requirement, but it would force a select few countries to send something in their own language/languages once in awhile. For example, I think it's pretty sad that the only song in Swedish since 1998 (the last time Sweden was forced to) was a Finnish entry.

Another thing I have previously suggested is using subtitles for the songs in all countries. This is done in a few countries, and I believe it would lower the threshold for sending a song in a language most people don't understand. Understanding the lyrics is very important for a lot of people.

Quoting myself from one year back. The way I feel about this has certainly not changed. What are there, like five songs not in English? And some of those with phrases in English.

I hope this gets discussed in some EBU meeting. This has become a serious problem with barely 5 songs being sung completely or partially in their native language. Otherwise the Eurovision loses its charm. :(

I also agree it should be returned. Too many songs on ENglish and it is just killing the basic idea of the contest.
