If Bosnia do well in Turkvision I don't know whether it will be a positive or negative thing for ESC, if they do well they may think they will give ESC another go, or they could think they will stay out because they are doing well in Turkvision...

It's not even the same broadcaster participating in both contests.

I can't say that I miss the former Yugoslavian countries. They usually send Balkan-style songs and that's surely not my taste.

Taste aside, I think it's awesome that atleast SOME countries in this contest dare to stay true to their own roots and musical culture, rather than the rest importing some generic Pop stuff from Sweden in English... so I think if anything, the lack of ex-Yugo countries in ESC is actually a big loss, because they were bringing some diversity to this contest that is turning extremely safe, middle of the road and homogeneous since the juries were brought back.

Eurovision gained it's big success in the past 10 years because of the music diversity which the Balkan countries brought to the contest and that there could be fund very different type of music - from generic pop songs to some interesting traditional stuff. Not encouraging the musc diversity in Eurovision is not the smartest thing that could be done with the future of the contest. Afterall it will be boring if we have only one particular style of songs - very similar to each other. The Balkan countries tend to send different songs in very different styles, to make some experiments with mixing traditional with modern sound and so on. Actually that was the main reason for the success of these countries in the televote era - the casual TV viewers are searching for different music experience and tend to vote for songs, which are outside the traditional frames.
This mass withdrawal from the Balkans will hurt the contest and this will be easily noticed in 2014.

The only thing that the Balkan entries did to this contest was to ruin its reputation in Western Europe. Nothing more. ;)

In that case now we are waiting for the reputation to be restored - you see the "problem" is solved. But the facts show something different - the last 10 years are the top of the popularity of Eurovision in the history of the event, the biggest market share, the biggest scale of the contest and so on and so on.
I don't know about the western countries and the reputation there, but it's hypocritical and cynic to be blamed the Balkan countries for all possible drawbacks which exist in the Eurovision. Afterall the facts in the last years show that the Western countries could really teach the Eastern ones what is neighbour and tactical voting and how to determine the winner months before the contest. But this maybe is counted as good thing for the reputation. Now when the "evil" Balkans are out we are waiting for the reputation to be restored. With this kind of thinking the good times for ESC will really stay in the past.

No honey, ESC reputation ruined acts like Cezar and songs purchased in skandinavian music shops . And Balkan countries ruined whole contest an that way that Denmark won with ethno song typical for Balkans. Just tell me that you in Romania listen only Inna and similar stuffs pffffffffffff.

And this year all Europe will see what Balkan states means too ESC (when we will have 25 almost identical songs, started with Ukrainian song). Cheers

I'm not gonna reply to this. If you believe that "Only Teardrops" is a Balkan ethno song, then no comment from me.

I don't have a problem. I simply expressed my opinion and then you started posting senseless comments.

No honey you don't expressed your opinion, you directly insult countries in region where your country belongs too, and indirectly you insult all fans from that countries
