I wake up and I think I could use another drink
I'm reaching for a smoke to forget about last night, last night
I get up 'cause I need a shot of instant remedy
I put a record on, it makes me think about last night, last night

It all ended in the weirdest chip
He started actin' way too hip
That's why I ignored you for a long, long time
But then you had the best opening line
You're in the wrong place

You're lying next to me, I don't know where to hide
I see his smiley face that makes me wanna cry
What was I thinking? 'Cause all we did was fight
Don't you ever dare to wear my Johnny Cash t-shirt

You're in the wrong place, you're in the wrong place

You wake up and you think you won't need another drink
You don't want me to smoke, though I didn't stop last night, last night
You get up 'cause you need an organic cup of tea
You put a record on, it makes you think about last night, last night

You confuse me with your blurry eyes
Thought you were a different kind of guy
That's why I took you to my messy place
But it felt as if we were in a different space
You're in the wrong place

You're lying next to me, I don't know where to hide
I see his smiley face that makes me wanna cry
What was I thinking? 'Cause all we did was fight
Don't you ever dare to wear my Johnny Cash t-shirt

You're in the wrong place, you're in the wrong place
You're in the wrong place, you're in the wrong place
You're in the wrong place, you're in the wrong place
Don't you ever dare to wear my Johnny Cash t-shirt

I somehow suspect that Belgium did far better, than „just“ qualifying. It reminds me a lot of the situation of NL in 2014...

in a livepoll of „Der Standard“ (austrian quality newspaper), Belgium was 2nd in the semi yesterday...

i really really enjoy the belgian entry but i don't think the participants of a live poll at der standard is very representative at all tbh, can't see a very typical eurovision audience there (or at least not an audience that would actually vote in the real contest). but yea i'm really happy that they qualified, i honestly did not think they would

and i actually like Geikes live performance and don't find it off-putting, i think it adds some kind of mysteriousness but i guess i know what @Edweis means.

I think indeed that people might underestimate the fact that there is a public for this. They stood out in a semi full of popsongs with tons of crazy elements. They did well with the juries for sure and I also can believe that the televote-score might be better than people expect.

That being said, they are now qualified for the final. Some of the ballads from semi 2 will join in, along with France, and they have to perform in the first half of the final (the right spot for them would be somewhere at the end imo). I think that in the final the televote will not be that great anymore.

This was another of my favs last night, an entry that you don’t even need to look at their staging to get captivated. Pure quality, simplistic melody, focused on the song itself, classy, no need of disturbing unnecessary vocal acrobatics à la tv talent show to gain attention.

I am really glad for Belgium. They always bring strong songs, but always also manage to ruin them with staging. This year it seems that the gamble paid off. However, this is one of those songs that I am actually listening to regardless of ESC. Congrats, Belgium.

Of course it‘s not representative - as the typical fan polls aren‘t either as we just saw. It just shows a perspective from - let‘s say the outskirts of the eurovision bubble if you will.

I am really excited for them and I wonder where they‘ll end up.

Professionals all over Germany (including various celebs, the broadcaster‘s reaction team, radio people etc.) were not really too enthusiastic about it, which I was very surprised to learn.

On the other hand, all (non ESC Fans, casual viewers) people I‘ve talked with had 3 countries in common which they ALL had in their top 3 and Belgium was one of them.

So ppl are predicting it‘s saved by the juries but I‘m curious if it isn’t the opposite.

I find this mediocre tbh, but it was a deserving qualifier because compared to other stuff, this at least has quality. This band has one of the best songs ever (Mad About You) but both ESC entries they delivered to us weren't anything special IMO.

I think the televoters also appreciated it quite a bit. The audience which loved Calm After The Storm also should love this

It's not flamboyant nor extravagant, that is why Eurofans underestimate their appeal.

It stood out big time among all these overly choreographed entries yesteday. I would still though prefer Geike to move a little bit though during the chorus at least. At least to walk. The staging felt right to me albeit I agree that it could have been better. I loved the dress of Geike too.

Peter Urban yesterday was audibly happy (and also surprised) it qualified however :)

As many others already stated in this thread, i think people were just tired of all the similar uptempo entries and voted for this because it's the most different. In the other semi, it might not have stood a chance. Still, not musically really a bad entry, but i'm not rooting for them.

Lol we actually avoided giving :be: the #2 position in the running order and I'm fairly sure that's because it's the Flemish broadcaster participating, we love us a good neighbour.
Please remember that when you will host one day zuiderburen x

Great song and performance. Of course, the kids and teens will not support this "old" act, when there's several social media darlings on board. A shame. This goes to my Eurovision playlist.

Expected outcome sadly, performing 4th was never going to help either.

The sadist in me looks forward to @anaraqueen 's reaction to the results they got though :ROFLMAO: I sense it's going to be... spicy.
