@A-Lister. Most def it's gonna be English and most def it's gonna be a Swedish author or Kirkorov.
Imo, she can perform both - uptempo and ballads but slavic style suits her more. And yeah, I'd like to see a ballad.
What is up with all these Swedish authors in the NFs??

Re: BELARUS 2012 - Alyona Lanskaya

she has done up-tempo before... and surprisingly i understand her English

i wouldn't mind an uptempo song, but i would like it to have ethnic flavor. like I love Belarus had. music-wise it was perfect.

Why not rename the whole thing to Swedovision?! It's just getting pathetic. :D

The Head of Eurofest denied collaboration with Kirkorov.

More than 3000 people are being rejected every year @MF... then goes traveling from Portugal to Georgia/Azerbaijan

Oh I would so love a balalaika themed uptempo song in Belarussian... fat chance that'd happen though, we'll end up with some generic Kirkorov schlager-pop in English instead.

balalajka is actually more Russian. but at this point i'd settle for that lol
ever since i saw folk inspired songs at Eurovision i was dreaming of seeing and hearing dulcimers in Belarus entry. and it happened last year. why did they have those tacky lyrics? and on top of it, a song about how much you love your country and it's in a foreign language? really?

But if we keep authentic Belarusian music, it's more along the lines of flutes and pipes.. there is actually a version of a bagpipe that might be just the gimmick Europe might like :) violins are so 5 years ago

I thought it was Balalaika in the background of the "I Love Belarus" entry? :?

However, obviously I prefer a more genuine Belarussian sound then (whatever that is).

This is my favorite Belarussian Eurofest entry ever xcheer:

This song was SOOO robbed imo!

Something like this but maybe with a more up to date dance beat would so make my day! :D

And yeah, last year's entry was bizarre. If Belarus wanted to show their pride, they should have send a serious ethno-inspired entry with Belarussian lyrics instead of that sillyness we got instead.

I think some1 said it's dulcimer (u can find that in last years' topic)
and it sounds great :D

it was dulcimer. or as we call it in Belarusian - tsymbaly

i wish Belarus was participating in Eurovision when those guys were popular (70s-90s)

or if we had something similar to them now, modern folk-pop-rock ensemble.

I see, never really heard about that instrument before though. When you just hear it quick it kinda sounds like Balalaika for some odd reason.

Re: BELARUS 2012 - Alyona Lanskaya

No sooner had the organizers of “Eurofest” determined the representative of Belarus at the annual song contest “Eurovision,” then the results of the qualifying competitions drew the attention of social networks users. Thus, photos of the official papers with urgent recommendations of officials to support Alyona Lanskaya at the final vote appeared on the internet.

February 10, there was information in the network that Vitsebsk officials had sent letters to the subordinate organizations to distribute Alyona Lanskaya’s business card and “to support her during the interactive voting together with the family and friends,” said TUT.by.

But this is not the only fact which cast doubt on the results of the qualifying round is not for the European competition. In another document, employees of education department of Asipovichy Executive Committee report that “it is necessary to carry out organizational work and organize SMS-voting support among students.”

However, there’s no official confirmation of such documents. Still, many Belarusians do not exclude that such papers could really exist. Some people think that this a PR-planned move.

it's a long belarusian folk tradition that dates back to prehistoric times: change the song at the last minute :)

i think she was saying it even before the finals, that if she wins she will change the song..
i don't get it... granted people were not voting (even though they thought they were) but why put on that farce if you know who goes, and that the song that has been "voted in" will be changed anyway...

but hey, what else is new?

Re: BELARUS 2012 - Alyona Lanskaya

According to Andy Litesound won the juries, Lanskaya was 2nd.

Also she said that she will stick to this song, they plan to shoot the music video etc.
I'll open the poll, if they change the entry we will add another one.
