Re: BELARUS 2012 - Alyona Lanskaya

I had a pretty hard time understanding some words :/

Actually, when someone sings in a language they don't understand or control, it affects even the vocals because some of the focus lies on trying to pronounce the words correctly. It's quite common that live vocals have been worse when sung in a language which the artist does not understand than in the native language/language of understanding.

We've witnessed many of these failure in ESC.

Re: BELARUS 2012 - Alyona Lanskaya

i'm not sure why so many actually like Lightsound. it's like Turkish "rockers" last year - wannabes and cliche posers... Granted they were the best of what was shown, but it doesn' mean they were good enough.
if you really want to listen to quality belarussian rock youtube J Mors. unfortunately like all rockers they are too proud to even think about Eurovision...

Studio-wise my fav was Juzari, unfortunately he was extremely sick. He wasn't even able to sing in rehearsals yesterday or today, trying to save the voice. his song was stylish and had soul...

But based on what was heard today, none were any good. So if you change it, take someone who will be easy to change. So they took Alena.
now if they can mold a pretty blonde girl with a decent voice into something interesting... that can work. I HOPE the song is in Belarussian. or Russian. both are beautiful languages. why torture English and ears of those who can hear horrible accent?

Agree! And as I wrote before if the singer doesn't even understand the language herself, it oftens reflects the live vocals aswell.

Some accent is bearable, but sometimes it's just awkward and painful.

However, I doubt they'll send something in Belarussian or Russian, but one can hope *cross fingers*.

ESCXtra interview

She gave credits to the author of her Eurofest entry but then she said that Eurofest is Eurofest but Eurovision is something different.
Basically she said sorry, buddy, but your song is just for this NF.
After that Andy confirmed that she's going to search for uptempo entry a-la Ani Lorak.

Kirkorov didn't say that he will be involved. He said maybe in the future he will work for Belarusian entrant. He says that in every country. Though if she wants Shady Lady #2 they would be a perfect match.

Agurbash, Koldun, Lorak, another song for Bilan.
Not any single entry in native language.

I know :(

I'd actually hope Kirkorov wouldn't be involved in this, he is sort of a hit-or-miss producer, some of his stuff has been good, other has been weak.

The fact that he relies his own singing career on doing tacky covers is quite telling aswell

Re: BELARUS 2012 - Alyona Lanskaya

According to KP guys from Litesound were throwing glasses and plates from despair in the Green Room, lol
Also you could probably see how one of them urged the audience in the venue to protest.

Gyunesh just got up and left the Green Room without any single word, on the road to her changing room she just hugged Nikki.

Alyona's comment: "What can I say? It's not my fault that they act in such way. This is everyone's personal business. I think that everyone deserved to win"

Sakis wasn't in the mood and omg he looked horrible on the rehearsal o_0

ps. It seems Kirkorov is not going to work with Lanskaya. He said he has a song for Koldun for 2013.
Or maybe he will. After the NF he went to a restaurant together with Sakis, Eurofest president and Alyona

In a sense I can get it, I'd say this win was fixed.

However, I think both Litesound and Gunesh were overall overrated in here, but still...

Re: BELARUS 2012 - Alyona Lanskaya

How the heck it's fixed if the jury (most def) chose her? )))
Btw, imo Alyona was 1st or 2nd in the televoting.
She's quite established act, she's just won the Slavic Bazar (the 3rd biggest ex-USSR fest) fest so maybe people thought that she would be a better option because she's already won 1 big fest not so long ago. She had more promo than any other contestant (also according to Andy). + loyal jury.

Imo, it was the most logical victory actually, that's why I made the right prediction yesterday

Litesound never were jury's fave :(

imo Gyunesh was 3rd (televoters) and 2nd (the jurors).

Hmm well we have allready Norway, and propably Sweden & Ukraine with up-tempo songs in the same semi,
so i wouldnt advice Belarus to go with something like that.

I actually like the song. It's not bad, but her singing is bad. Also her English is difficult to understand, so yeah she should rather sing in Belarussian :p

Actually, a Belarussian (or Russian) updated version (more dramatic background music) of the song could work, however I'm pretty sure they're being stubborn and keep a very broken English instead (eventhough it hurts the overall impression).

I doubt they'd go from English to another language, I am not really sure when (if ever) that way round has ever been done in this contest before.

@A-Lister. Most def it's gonna be English and most def it's gonna be a Swedish author or Kirkorov.
Imo, she can perform both - uptempo and ballads but slavic style suits her more. And yeah, I'd like to see a ballad.
