:fi: took first medal, when Iivo Niskanen (Kerttu Niskanen's brother) took bronze in Men's cross-coutny skiathlon (15km +15km). Perttu Hyvärinen was 7th and Remi Lindholm 25th.

Enni Rukajärvi was 7th in Women's Snowboard Slopestyle final. She was one of our medal hopes, but good thing, she did make it to the final.

Rene Rinnekangas (also one our medal hopes) and Kalle Järvilehto didn't make it to final in Men's Snowboard Slopestyle.

The ski jumping event on the normal hill has finished half an hour ago. It was, sadly, a disaster for the Germans apart from Constantin Schmid who did a decent job on 11th place. World cup leader Karl Geiger just doesnt feel comfortable on this hill, his second jump was alright which makes me hopeful for the Mixed event tomorrow. I was however more disappointed by the performance of Markus Eichenbichler who didn't even make the final today. But it is a reflection of his season. He is still a potential champion, but his is pretty inconsistent all the time. I hope tomorrow Geiger and Schmid will be the male jumpers in the mixed events.
In general this event was quite surprising. Apart from the master Ryuyo Kobayashi who won gold the result was crazy and full of surprises... nobody would have expected the Austrian Manuel Fettner and Polish Dawid Kubacki to win silver and bronze. Especially for the Polish team this is a beautiful story because they had to suffer a heavy crisis in this season.

The Norwegians had also a rather bad day so at least we are not the only team who is left disillusioned by the result.

Tomorrow in the Mixed event Germany has still realistic chances to win silver. Slovenia is vastly superior to all other teams, even if one of the jumper tumbles, I would guess they are getting the gold medal.

BUT all other teams have weak spots. Our weak spots are the second female jumper and the struggle of Karl Geiger. But Althaus, who won silver in the women's event yesterday, might make for it.

Japan looks pretty good, but there is a big question mark behind the second male jumper. Apart from Ryuyo Kobayashi, they were awful today. Yukiya Sato is actually in a decent shape though. His performance will be decisive for Nippon tomorrow, given he will start. Maybe they will nominate Junshiro Kobayashi instead.

Austrias unluck is the absence of Marita Kramer who has been the best ski jumper in this Women's world cup season. Fuck Covid. Without her Austria misses a female jumper on world-class level.

Norway's girls are similar to Austrias girls without Kramer... their jumpers are good, but not worldclass. If Lindvik can repeat his second jump of today (he was the third best in the second heat) twice Norway has a good shot for silver.

Despite the disappointment of the German ski jumping team today, I am looking forward to tomorrow!

Ahhhhhhhh I am speachless ... Denise Herrmann wins GOLD in Biathlon ... after such a messy season so far. As a die-hard biathlon fan I can`t help but feel a little emotional.

"Something" is one way to put it. Plain manipulation another one.
You are obvs right with your second observation and it is just a shame that the superb performance of the Slowenes got overshadowed by some crazy ass idiots. Katha Althaus told the German coach that they were looking for something on her suit again and again until they finally found something. It`s also interesting to note that all the disqualified girls said that they were going with the exact same suits they already wore in individual competition and yet nobody was disqulified there. Same goes for the Norwegian girl who didn´t get disqualified after the first jump but after her second one although she did not change her suit. It just smells hella fishy. Didn`t do the sport any favor.

just watched the ski-jumping mixed event in re-live... what the hell was that? xfacepalm one of the biggest scandals of the history of the sport

I am gutted for the girls who suffered from that regulation madness, especially Takanashi couldn't stop crying, it broke my heart, as she already has a tragic history of 4th and 5th places in big events.

from what I've heard the ladies used exactly the same suits they had used in the single event ... if I am not mistaken, today the suits got checked by the Men's supervisor and the guy is more strict than the Woman's supervisor. Fair enough, but if they suddenly adopt the strict standards of the men, why the ladies didn't get a warning or a hint in the training sessions so that they can check their suits right before the event? How should the ladies even know that their suits that has always been fine are all of sudden not good anymore because the rules are different.... And why was the suit of the Norwegian lady still fine in the first heat but not in the second anymore? It's a punch in the face for the Women's ski-jumping and it's even more sad because it was their last competition of this Olympics because they don't jump on the large hills (which is ridicolous too, as they proved in the world cup they've got the abilities to jump well on the large ones, too...). So they have to travel back home with this farce competition as the last memory.

Nevertheless... I'm always sympathizing with the underdogs to some extent and I can't deny that I had a bit of a smile on my face seeing the Canadian team celebrating the bronze medal, even if it is such an bizarre way to get it. They also did a good job for their standards. I've never expected Boyd-Clowes to be consistent enough to make two very good jumps and especially keep calm before the last jump, knowing he had to defend a 3rd place against KOBAYASHI of all jumpers. And then when Kobayashi jumped 106 meter I thought Japan is going for the bronze but then Boyd Clowed surpassed the 100 meters as well... kudos to Team Canada, I guess they still think they are stuck in a wonderful dream and hope they get not awakened too soon xcrazy

In other news: That shocking golden medal in Biathlon for Denise Hermann xheat I was so worried about our Biathletes, especially our ladies, so that is a wonderful surprise that makes up for the ski-jumping drama. For some reason you can always rely on our Biathletes in major competitions. I am hopeful one of our men will also get a medal xup

In what is considered to be one of the biggest rivalries on ice, the Canadian women's hockey team doubled up the Americans 4-2 to win Group A to book their ticket to the medal round

Lmao the manipulation at the Mixed Team Ski Jumping gets even more obvious:
Apparently Urša Bogataj told the press that she got a warning from the material control people because of her suit. Meanwhile all the others were immediately disqualified.
